If you like Cesar Milan you should enjoy this book as well.
How to really train your dog with the understanding of a dog's perspective.
This is the true way to teach a dog and the steps you should take before buying a dog. I've read other positive training books that give you simple steps to train your puppy. Using using food. When something doesn't work they just say to find better treats. If that doesn't work your stuck with no ideas how to fix the problem or even what the real problem is. Cesar explains why dogs do the things they do and why. He gives you real solutions to raising a puppy, not just to keep giving them treats. Food doesn't work for all dogs as a constant motivator. The one book I read said to wait until the dog is hungry enough to want the treat. Cesar gives other motivators based on the breed or situation. Great Book!
I'm in the Lyme light now !
Cesar Millan is the greatest thing since the napkin. He has taken the concept of mindfulness and brought to the animal world. Just in time too. I have used mindfulness skills to keep my own life in order and I was quick to see that he too has read Daniel Goleman's books on Mindfulness skills, or as Cesar puts it, " staying in the moment because that's how animals live everyday ." Cesar then applies this staying in the moment thinking in his work for people to better understand how your dogs mind functions. He also breaks it down for the " people " to be able to get a clear message on what and where they need to be in their thinking when their with their pets in various situations. When talking to people in his seminars Cesar is using his mindfulness skills all the time to keep the people in the moment with him. He will save not only dogs in his life but many many people too. Spread the word Cesar Millan. Denise
I work with dogs and the hardest thing I find is explaining to people that regardless of how cute their dog is. It is not a little human child. I think if you get nothing else out of this book but the simple fact that dogs wanted to be treated like dogs than it is already worth getting. I got it and listened to it all through the day.
