Excellent Advice

Would you consider the audio edition of How to Cure a Commitment Phobic to be better than the print version?

It's a difficult thing being involved with a CP. I think she offers excellent advice. It is a lot easier to listen to than implement though. I hate the fact that women have to give up there desires for a man and that we have to do all the work, but being in my fifties it's exactly the way it is...I wish I had learned these lessons much sooner in life. Good relationship advice CP or not.

I am a CP

I thought I submit the following review to share with women my thoughts as a CP.
I am a CP ( commitmentphobic man).
I listened to this book on audible and agree with most of it. Her description of me as a card carrying CP is pretty spot on accurate. She knows my type. It took me many years to realize I'm a CP. I always though it was just a matter of finding " the right woman".
But my current the age of 71 I have never been married, engaged, lived with someone, or had any relationship longer than several months. I actually am very open now when I meet women and I tell them at the beginning my history and that I have always had trouble committing. When I was younger I didn't realize it. I just thought she wasn't " the right one" ( usually after we started getting more intimate) .
Nowadays I do not force them to try to pull that information out of me. I tell them. I do not push for sex. I let them decide if they want to get to know me. I don't consider myself a bad person for being a CP. I believe events from my childhood led me to be this way. But I think for some of us CPs it's not going to change. Dr Kelley discusses in her book about a manner of dealing with a CP that may change him. The operant word there is 'may'. For myself, I'm not sure if anything you do, how long you hold off on sex, how aloof you are, etc etc would change my inability to make a durable commitment over time. At some point the aloofness and holding off has to end. I'm speaking for myself, not saying it can't happen. The best I can do is try to be as honest as possible from the beginning and try not to hurt anyone. I've been told by some women I'm too honest. But I think it seems to be the right thing. Maybe women should assume all men are CP until proven otherwise.
Then again, maybe everything I say here would fly out the window if I met " the right woman" :)

A Good Read

I think Lynn's advice is wonderful, and she is very knowledgeable on the topic, as well. However, I believe the title is misleading. I don't believe the specific advice given can "cure a commitment phobic". I believe it is great advice for dating men that are afraid of commitment, and how to get them to commit better to a relationship, but a commitment phobic is a completely different story. The title is misleading, but her information is spot on about the characteristics of these types of men. A very good listen, as most of her books are. But, again, as many of her books are, the information is repetitive. HOWEVER, she is helpful and smart.

Omg this was on the money!

It just didn’t talk about what a commitment phobe is or does, she goes in depth on how to handle every type of situation. You will feel great and in control after reading this. I just finished it and I’m about to start it all over until it’s pounded in my head and I know what to do without forgetting one thing.

nothing new. Kelley's tone is a bit arrogant

When it comes to psychological matter, advice and examples from real life are more appreciated than recipes

One liner

The book basically advices women to play hard to get. That’s about the depth of it.
