Publisher's summary

If you want to make positive changes in your life and achieve your long-term goals, I can't think of a better way to do it than to learn how to become more self-disciplined.

Science has figured out a lot of interesting aspects of self-discipline and willpower, but most of this knowledge is buried deep inside long, boring scientific papers. If you'd like to benefit from these studies without actually reading them, this audiobook is for you. I've done the job for you and researched the most useful and viable scientific findings that will help you improve your self-discipline.

Here are just a few of things you will learn from this audiobook:

  1. What a bank robber with lemon juice on his face can teach you about self-control. This story will make you laugh out loud, but its implications will make you think twice about your ability to control your urges.
  2. How $50 chocolate bars can motivate you to keep going when faced with an overwhelming temptation to give in.
  3. Why President Obama wears only gray and blue suits, and what it has to do with self-control.
  4. Why the popular method of visualization can actually prevent you from reaching your goals and destroy your self-control (and what to do instead).
  5. What dopamine is and why it's crucial to understand its role if you want to break your bad habits and form good ones.
  6. Five practical ways to train yourself in self-discipline. Discover some of the most important techniques to increase your self-control and become better at resisting instant gratification.
  7. Why and when indulging yourself can actually help you build your self-discipline. Yes, you can stuff yourself (from time to time) and still lose weight.
  8. You too can master the art of self-discipline and learn how to resist temptations. Your long-term goals are worth it. Scroll up to buy the audiobook now.

Not worth a credit or any money.

Unless you are an absolute beginner in self awareness, I would certainly not invest in this book. You can get way more info for free by browsing websites on internet. The author can be arrogant and pretentious at times. Additionally, I have a hard time taking seriously people that resolve to extreme behaviors to get things out of life.

Short and... semi-sweet

I liked that it was short, but in its shortness it felt heavily focused on weight loss and dieting goals, little on anything else. If the reader is solely looking for reinforcing weight loss goals (not my core concern), then this book is good. For any other self discipline goals, maybe find another book.

Uncomfortable

His words sound very judgmental and rude subliminally. I do not like this at all.

The narration way was lazy, without emotion in it

I struggled to finish it, sleepy somehow, no emotions on it. The information was important that's why I finished the book.

16 hour fasting and icewater showers?

I am certain that the author is successful and that his message is well intended. However, he lost me at daily 16 hour fasting and icy cold showers. I just think that those extreme positions must be limited to a very small fraction of the worlds population. BMac.

Summary for Building Good Habits

The book is a summary of key points for building good habits and self-discipline. There are a lot of examples of eating healthy and losing weight as a lot of people can relate to that. Some tips are obvious, like replace candies with fruits or don't go shopping when you're hungry. There are also suggestions for small changes, like meditate for a minute or exercise for five minutes and build on that over time. The hardest part is getting started. If you can make it a habit to do something good, however small, it will get the momentum rolling to do more over time.

Not a big fan

Narration was ok, but he was all over the place with some pretty crazy suggestions on building self discipline. Much better books on will power and self-discipline out there.
