Publisher's Summary

How to Budget: A Beginner's Guide is going to take you through some simple, easy-to-start steps. Before you reach the end of this book, you will have tasks you can start immediately and start to feel comfortable about your financial situation. You will discover how your mindset can be hindering your spending habits. You can stop letting your "want now" attitude from getting in the way, just as soon as you finish this book. Unlike other guides available to you, this one is set up for easy listening, where you learn some real-life methods for solving your debt issues, as well as getting a budget that will help you reach those goals and dreams you have. You know there are things you wish to buy or places you want to see. It will take time. You will have to correct any debt situation you have, but rather than a lot of stories about what someone else did, you now have a guide that will take you through the steps of assessing your situation, find where you can save, and much more.

What you will learn:

  • How to view your income and expenses
  • Determining your recurring and non-recurring expenses
  • Where you can save money and how to save that money
  • How to pay off your credit card debt

Act now, so you can be debt free in a reasonable amount of time. Each person has a different amount of debt, so while someone might be debt free in a year, you may need five years.

Additional lessons:

  • Gain steps on changing your mindset
  • Finding new income pathways
  • How to start right this minute in creating a budget

You are ready to take the next step. You are already thinking of ways to change your spending habits for a better life - now you just need the how!

"Beyond spreadsheeting, this book is practical"

How to Budget: A Guide for Beginners stands out for two primary reasons.

Firstly, it's practical. It's not about spreadsheeting, although that is one of many tips. Where most budgeting books focus on the need to spreadsheet, Christina Sorg talks about it briefly but spends most of the time offering excellent tips and tricks for real life circumstances.

The second reason this book is so good is because it's short. Let's face it - we all want the information, but we don't want to spend hours and hours listening to waffle and irrelevant information. Sorg's writing is tight and to the point. Her chapter headings are useful, and she wastes no time getting to the very useful "how to" suggestions that cater for anyone's situation.

While Sorg's book is, sadly, focused strictly on an American audience, the tips are transferable to any western culture. She discussing everything from credit card debt to retirement; savings plans to buying your morning coffees. Even the need for sleep gets a mention. This is good, simple advice for a beginner, and an excellent reminder for those already in the know who have gone off track. What also impressed me was her inclusiveness of starting at any age, offering alternative suggestions for different financial situations, and her ability to comment without judgement.

Amy Barron Smolinski reads with clarity without talking down to the listener, and the bonus of listening to this audiobook is that it frees your hands to make copious notes if you wish.

I highly recommend this audiobook and commend Sorg on providing such a practical and reachable resource. Bravo!

    "The Right Mindset for Success!"

WOW!!!! Christina Sorg's book is so chock full of wonderful budget ideas that I also purchased the paperback version so I could "dog ear" many pages and chapters for future reference.

She provides a vast array of practical suggestions about ways to budget and save money.

Amy Barron Smolinski's narration is an excellent fit for Christina's topics--offering listeners a pleasant and informative voice for sharing information.

I wholeheartedly recommend Christina Sorg's book and audiobook for anyone who wants to "refresh" their mindset for success.

"A lot of information in this audio book"
What made the experience of listening to How to Budget the most enjoyable?

This audio book followed smoothly from one topic to the next. I liked the ideas on the less expensive vacations. It doesn't mater what you do, but how you enjoy the moment. I feel this is a good book for beginners who have not received basic budgeting information while growing up. Thank you for this condensed information!

"Easy and Simple guide to manage a budget"
What other book might you compare How to Budget to and why?

I can't compare any other book about budgeting with this one because this is my first book about budgeting.

    Which scene was your favorite?

This book gave me some tips on how to budget my finances and get out of debt. Her suggestions actionable and easy to follow.

    Any additional comments?

This is a very informative book about budgeting. Easy to listen. It will teach you how to save and manage your money, how to be satisfied of what you have, and how to stay out of debt. But I wish that the author would've teach me more detail strategies about budgeting techniques. Everyone should read it especially young people.I like the narrator, the tone of the narrator is motivating to the listener, makes this book fun to listen.
