The popular pastor and New York Times best-selling author of Love Wins and What We Talk About When We Talk About God shows us how to pursue and realize our dreams, live in the moment, and joyfully do the things that make us come alive.
Each of us was created for something great - we just need to figure out what it is and find the courage to do it. Whether it's writing the next great American novel, starting a business, or joining a band, Rob Bell wants to help us make those dreams become reality. Our path is ours and ours alone to pursue, he reminds us, and in doing so we derive great joy because we are living our passions.
How to Be Here lays out concrete steps we can use to define and follow our dreams, interweaving engaging stories, lessons from biblical figures, insights gleaned from Rob's personal experience, and practical advice. Rob gives you the support and insight you need to silence your critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender to the outcome.
Like Stephen Pressfield's classic The War of Art, How to Be Here will inspire listeners to seek the lives they were created to lead.

How to Be Here: A Guide to Creating a Life Worth Living - by Rob Bell.
This book is incredible! I finished it in 2 days which has to be a record for me. I even rewound it to re-listen to some pieces because it was so good. I will definitely be going through this one again. It's all things I love: Christ, contemplative, creativity, mindfulness, and living the best life you can. LOVE! Rob is also super fun to listen to. Animated and good spirited.
Everything. "find your one" all you need to know is where you start from. Making a life worth living. "Stop thinking about shit that ain't happening". Everything!
His laughs! And his fun inflections when he starts each section. His candor in how he delivers the meaningful, the fun, the interesting, the stories.
Find your one. What's your one? We all start from one. We cannot do anything about step 15, 16 or 17 until we first do one. Focus on that.
This book feels more like it was written for Rob Bell fans. It doesn't mean it's not a good book, but it feels like it rides on the reputation of his previous work. It is an inspiring work but needed to be fleshed out a bit more.
Searching the gateways to the meanings of life.
We are all trying to live life. We believe that so many people have it all figured out. How to be here makes us all human again. Backing up taking the time to stop and think about being here is a process. Rob Bell helps us through his experiences on how to be present.
If you really want to have success in life and you are at a crossroads of where you are take the time to listen to this book and learn to be here.
I used up all my sick days. So I called in dead
I was disappointed with this book. I thought the author has be enlightened, but apparently not. This book is quite shallow. It basically states you should experience life. That is it, in one sentence. There is nothing moving. It left me nothing to think about.
The only positive thing to say about the audible version is the book was narrated by Bob Bell himself. He does have a good voice.
Amazing read. Funny, deep, life altering. I can't wait to re listen to this book. There are so many nuggets of wisdom that I am sure I will need to go through it at least 2 more times.
Rob Bell demonstrates his ability to draw from life, faith traditions, and the wisdom of others and his own life to write and narrate an informative, inspiring, practical book on life and presence. Highly recommended for all ages and stages of life.
I liked this book, but it wasn't my favorite Rob Bell. It wasn't as inspiring as Love Wins, Velvet Elvis, or What We Talk About When We Talk About God. I do enjoy his reading of his own works.
