So so so helpful

I got this book during the desperation of the 4 month sleep regression... It's so well researched and helpful! I wish we would've listened to it before our baby came... Would've helped so much in the hard, first 6 weeks. Some other reviews say it's boring, but I find it fascinating. I'd rather listen to a sleep book based on science than on entertainment.

This guy had kids?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Use of reliable study citations.

Would you ever listen to anything by Marc Weissbluth, MD again?

No.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was ok. Hard to do much with the material at hand.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Irritation.

Any additional comments?

I think the good doctor swallowed a copy of Dr. Spock, and tried to fancy it up. The coup de gras for me was when I looked up crib tents and found that they had been recalled as unsafe.

maybe it was good in the 80's

This guy is pretty proud of himself. Reads like an old-fashioned propaganda piece by a WASPy doctor who knows best. Book summary: morning nap, afternoon nap, and full night sleep. There are much better books out there that won't waste your time.

So boring it put ME to sleep!

What disappointed you about Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child?

The narrator was very annoying, he would mimic a woman when he read a woman's quote. It was so monotone that I couldn't follow. I have listened to a lot of books getting ready for baby and this one I stopped and started a dozen times before I decided I should return it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Marc Weissbluth, MD again?

No.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Paul Mantell?

I don't have a recommendation, but this was not a good fit for him.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

On another note, this book has come HIGHLY recommended and I may jut end up buying the book and reading it.

Disappointing

Any additional comments?

Babies are people, they come with their own personalities and ways of being in the world... When I was exhausted with a newborn who didn't sleep, I spent my precious time reading this book which solved exactly zero of my problems. I figured it out on my own eventually when we found something that worked for both of us.

Excellent method & it works!

I have two children who sleep beautifully due to this program. It was a lifesaver when my first born was 2 mo old. I was exhausted and knew I needed a plan. I was nervous when my second child came along that I wouldn't have the same outcome with her because my son had done so well. She did better than he did because I was familiar with the program. Now, I am starting with my third, and am actually excited to get her on the program! Lifesaver for parent who like to sleep!

Narrator ruins the book.

This content in this book may be good but I could not make it past the narrator. I recommend sampling before purchasing. (insert snoring sound)

Very very very long winded

I could not stand this book. 90% of the book was talking about how important sleep was And didn't give you much useful informatio and repeated the same things over and over. I pride myself on always finishing books, but this one I could not. Very little useful content.

Horrible, horrible way to force your baby to sleep

Awful, how could any one treat another human this way. Especially a tiny baby, who’s only form of communication is to cry. Literally breaks my heart that people could do this to their baby. It’s so sad.

helpful!

this book helped me understand the importance of scheduling sleep and naps and learning how to recognize sleep cues in my little one.
the narrator was clear and easy to understand and follow. the story seemed repetitive but I think that's to get the point across /empathize the importance. my little one is sleeping through the night now at 5.5 months and naps twice a day . getting the sitter to follow suit is a challenge still.
