For fans of Girl Boss by Sophie Amoruso, I Am That Girl by Alexis Jones and You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero comes the latest book from best-selling author, entrepreneur, and master life coach Cara Alwill Leyba. Girl Code is a roadmap for female entrepreneurs, professional women, "side hustlers" (those with a day job who are building a business on the side), and anyone in between who wants to become a better woman. This book will not teach you how to build a multimillion dollar business. It won't teach you about systems or operational processes. But it will teach you how to build confidence in yourself, reconnect with your "why", eradicate jealousy, and ultimately learn the power of connection. Because at the end of the day, that's what life and business is all about.
"I am witnessing a phenomenon. It seems as though a growing group of women entrepreneurs all around the world has discovered the secret to success and happiness in both their lives and careers. It's almost as though there is a hidden, underground world of power-playing females who have all cracked a magical code: they think positively, they support one another, and they truly believe they can have it all - and you can, too. There is something dynamic that happens when women genuinely show up for each other. When we lose the facades, when we cut the bulls--t, and when we truly have each other's backs. When we stop pretending everything is perfect, and we show the messy, beautiful parts of ourselves and our work that all look awfully similar. When we talk about our fears, our missteps, and our breakdowns. And most importantly, when we share our celebrations, our breakthroughs, and dish on what works. There is no reason to hoard information, connections, or insight. Wisdom is meant to be shared, so let's start sharing what we've learned to make each other better. Let's start building each other up. Let's live up to our potential and start ruling the world."

The reviews disagree with me, so I assume this book and I are just a poor match.
If I hear the word "journey" again today, I may forget all my inner peace and ask the universe to wack somebody on the head. The author's story of finding the perfect salon to get her mink lash extensions gave me pause. It was her rapturous recounting of the time she took a town car to buy a Chanel purse that finished me off. I'm a mother of grown children and now a new grandmother. This whole 'purse that cost twice as much as my first car' phenomenon is beyond ridiculous. But she's young..she'll learn.
So, if you are an ambitious 20/30 something and are new to positive thinking and sending out good energy to get good energy back; if you like the idea of mink lash extensions (seriously?) you may very well enjoy this book. If, on the other hand, you are a more mature person who has lived through the fads and fancies of superficiality, look elsewhere. It's hard to get a reinvigorating shot of positivity when you are hearing from the wife of an NBA star or a reality TV personality about how they run their businesses and get everything done. Hmm ..ready cash maybe?
In summary, road weary pragmatists beware! The info is standard positive cheerleader stuff. A great message, but the messenger may not resonate for everyone.
Narration was great from the author. Ladies, she has an important message for is and I wish we would all read it.
Loved it so inspirational definitely gonna read again and again the narrator has a very welcoming and inviting voice I listened to it all day and didn't want it to end, sad that I finished it so quick I will definitely recommend giving it a read and I will also be looking into more books from this author. Great job!!!!
If you're doubting yourself and your business with comparison and envy read this book and gift it to Every Woman entrepreneur you know
I listened through about half of the audiobook but couldn't continue to listen. She was very good at talking about herself and her own progress with only little effort in actually providing legitimate advice on actions to take for yourself. I felt that she was more interested in herself than women as a whole.
"love love love this!!!"
I was bubbling with confidence and ideas and felt truly inspired before I'd even finished the book!!!!
"loved it, very inspiring."
I have both the book & audio I loved it that much. thank you xo
