Essential portions are omitted in the audiobook

The content is okay, certainly presented better than most of his written material (much of his writing would benefit greatly if he were to use a talented ghostwriter slash editor as he tends to ramble). The processes used in NLP are set forth intelligently; however, the Audible version leaves a good deal to be desired, as the checklists and worksheets used in the book are entirely left out of the audiobook! He refers to them, instructing the listener to complete them before proceeding...having access to a friend's copy over the weekend I was able to work through a few of them, enough to realize that they are not just fluff but integral to using the material. Unless the listener is willing to run to the bookstore to purchase a hard copy, he or she will be completely lost early on. I scurried back to the computer expecting to find a PDF of those items, but they seem to have been entirely overlooked. Come on, guys; as a long-term (7 year) member of Audible, I am deeply disappointed at this oversight. It's like ordering a cheeseburger and receiving the bun, veggies, cheese and condiments...but where's the beef?! I want my credit back!

The MOST Essential Parts of the Book Are Omitted

My advice: buy the book in print, don't waste your time with the audio version. The material is good, but the worksheets and checklists that are ESSENTIAL to doing the exercises that form the core of the book are left out of the audio version. This is inexcusable for a book described as "unabridged."

Bandler is a master inner game expert

Richard Bandler started the "don't explain why your hurting, figure out how to make it stop and make the effects of the hurt go away forever"...The book is helpful for anyone who is "drifting" and making attempts to bring more concrete substance to their open-ended sense of uncertainty about how they are finding meaning in their life.

Bandler shows clearly and congruently how one can stop self sabotaging their mood and sense of hope and happiness. By reshaping models of how one experiences the World, he shows the reader how to find new ways to take inventory of how you process the inputs past and present that affect your mood, focus and sense of possibility and choice. Sounds esoteric, yet it is not, he keeps it simple and as you listen you will find that the information is actually very personal and intimate because he is providing questions that you enter your own answers to. Excellent transformation stuff in an easy to follow guide.

Finally

Finally a concise easy to understand book on NLP. Author gets right to the point in terms everyone can understand. Please start here if looking into NLP - I almost quit because so many of the books and programs were either too technical with unending references to stuff like sub modalities, etc or the authors couldn't get to the point. That's not the case here.

This is a great book, but the audio version is not

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Unabridged my Arse!include the PDFs for all of the workbooks and checklists this review jumps from a 1 to a 4 or 5.Until then... i want my money back. I feel robbed.UNABRIDGED is a LIE. Period.

Would you ever listen to anything by Richard Bandler again?

not a chance in hell unless all of the materials are included, or he buys a dictionary and looks up the word unabridged.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

he referred to materials that we did not get.

Any additional comments?

DO NOT waste a credit or dime on this in Audio form.

Great content; not so great narrator

The only thing preventing a 5 star review here is the narrator. He pauses in odd places in the middle of sentences throughout the book. Don't let this detract from Bandler's material though. NLP principles are presented clearly and many examples are used making Bandler's work very easy to understand. Most importantly, this book lays the foundation to make it easy to apply NLP to your life and help conquer your fears and anxiety. The content is highly recommended, but the narrator is not.

An NLP Trainer comments: Learn from the master

My wife is an NLP trainer, she says "This is an excellent book for those just delving into the subject of NLP and experienced practitioners. Richard Bandler's brilliant NLP techniques can change your life. The audio version is missing the list of submodalities, which you can easily find on the internet by searching for "submodalities." Do you want quick change? Listen to this book by the co-founder himself."

Wow

If you want to try something other than talk therapy, check this out. The basic idea is that how you feel about something is determined by the images you play in your head when think of that thing, and if you change the images you have, and add new images that make you feel better, you can literally change how you feel. Sounds simple but it's been working for me.

I've Studied This for years but still clueless...

I bought a muscle building book that uses NLP to get great workouts and quit scarfing and wanted to get a book from the source: Bandler.

I get the concepts better now but man would I like to have lunch with the author and have him explain it me in normal human language.

Modalities/Submodalities Anchoring.

I feel like I'm learning language for a military operation.

The book flew by though!

Excellent.

Narrator's style totally wrong for this material

All i can say is "wow." Mark Morgann's reading made this book incredibly cheezy. Wasn't there quality control or an editor or publisher to stop this narrative train wreck? That being said, I'll definitely buy the hard copy of this book as it seems there's very good information in it.
