A good book with very practical advice. I was not 100% satisfied because I am looking for deeper psychological analysis, but this book gives great advice on everyday situations. I am yet to find a more practical book.
David Lieberman provides a fresh, but practical perspective on influencing. As a behavioral scientist his work is however founded in sound principles and cutting edge thinking. A truely helpful book.
Family on the move.
This book can help anyone willing to practice its principles be a more gregarious personality. It is not just for mouse-hearted individuals seeking to become lions--this book also has some practical advice for the rest of us. While I wouldn't dare to use everything in this book, it is useful knowledge to have.
I am the type of person that can get stuck in a conversation every now and then, baffled as to what the proper response may be. This book offers very precise things to say in sticky situations and/or approaches for times when there is something to be gained and you are unsure how to do it. It would be better if the book was longer and more explanatory though.
I have been an avid audible listener foot quite some time.it has helped me stay sharp and entertained as well.
This book was disappointing. A bit on the common sense side. it lays out tactics that most of us know and practice subconciously anyway. (ie.. how to tell if someone is lying to you). this book does not deliver on its promise. save your money.
Trying to teach an old dog some new tricks :) Worked in P&G, McKinsey, Google. Harvard MBA. Can't live without Audible...
I guarantee you can use 90+% of the tips in this book & improve your life. They are based on psychological researches & I can tell you I tried them & they work. You will find easy-to-understand tips how to:
- make people to like you
- criticize constructively
- find out if someone is fooling you
- make people to do you a favor
- be a true leader
- shot up a person aggressive person
- escape sexual assault
The tips are solid, however it doesn't go beyond the comon sense. Maybe a couple of pages are worthy. It's one of those audio books that you don't feel like listening again. In general it is more oriented to women.
I was really excited thinking I had found an book that could help me improve the way I relate to people at work, or in social situations. As most books of this type (self-help) are based around having the forms/exercises to work through which leaves a lot out of audio books.
What I found, instead, in this book was a recap of Psych 101 from my early college days ("if you want someone to like you, do something that they like for them"), which was appropriate since the greater portion of this book is about how to get unsuspecting ladies "in the sack" and how to get your wife to forgive your infidelity.
This is just another book to try to teach people to change their personality in order to gain popularity. This book sucks. If you want substance, try The 7 Habbits.
