Publisher's summary

Many people feel called to help others and change the world, but they just don’t know how to fulfill their potential. They have the creativity and passion, but often get lost, not knowing how to direct their energies. Now, popular life coach Martha Beck shows how readers can find their calling in service and healing - while realizing their destiny.

With a sparkling, compassionate, and often irreverent style, Beck draws from a combination of ancient wisdom and modern science to help readers consciously embrace vital skills that may be embedded in our DNA and are now made accessible again. Beck shows how to put together an “inner team” and an external “tribe” of people with the same aims and outlines four simple Steps for Transformation: Wordlessness, Oneness, Imagination, and Creation. With step-by-step instructions and guided reflections, Martha shows readers how to drop into the wordless state of communion with nature and self, how to connect with the oneness between self and the universe, how to be empowered by the spark of inspiration, and finally, how to take action and realize their creative potential to make a lasting impact in their own lives and the world around them.

Heartfelt, inspirational, and filled with “a-ha” moments, Finding Your Way in a Wild New World provides the map for the unconventional life path that leads to miraculous change.

Wow! This is a fun book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Finding Your Way in a Wild New World to be better than the print version?

I'll let you know after I read the print version. I liked the audio version enough to order it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This was told by the author. Not really a character book.

What does Heather Henderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really felt like Martha Beck was having a conversation with me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Expeditions into finding the Wild True You!

Any additional comments?

I had read a few Martha Beck articles in O'Magazine. I read the reviews of her book here in Audibles.com and thought, what the heck, I'll try it. Talk about feeling like Destiny dropped this in my lap. Wow! If you are reading this review, then there is probably something drawing you to listen to this audiobook. Beck's unconventional approach is simple and profound. It quickly brings you to a clear way to find and follow your path to your true self.

The new "Alchemist"

This is the new Alchemist, you guys. Got it after Liz Gilbert recommended it on Twitter. So grateful. The book is wildly creative, joyful, magical and practical. I don't know how it manages to be all those things, but it does. I'm already a very happy person, but it has infused my soul with deep joy and hope.

Not good as an audible

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This is one of those books that you start listening to and realize that you should have gotten the paper version. There are too many spots that I would want to re-read, especially when she gives you different exercises to do.

Delightful and fun learning experience

If you could sum up Finding Your Way in a Wild New World in three words, what would they be?

Joyful Mind Teachings

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well, obviously the author since she is sharing her thoughts and experiences.

Have you listened to any of Heather Henderson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - and this was a lot of fun to listen to. The various accents she used as part of the narrative were done well (at least they fit their stereotypes) and the delivery was good for the funny parts, with good comedic timing. There were some smile inducing sections, and a couple of laughs.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bend it Like Beck-I-AM (under some twisted cutlery)

Life changing

I read a lot about spirituality, personal growth, entrepreneurship, neuropsychology, and animal science. Yet this has to be one of the most inspirational calls to action I have listened to, despite the oftentimes corny narrator and lengthy bush stories. Martha Beck is full of contagious, joyful energy and a great combination of soulful believer and thoughtful academic.

Repackaged New Age Silliness

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Magical thinkers who believe "The Secret" is real and who are willing to pay over and over again for repackaged buddhism.

What could Martha Beck have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not much. I don't really see the world the same way as the author.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Toned it down a bit. The level of enthusiasm she expressed for small things was a little over the top.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Laughter. The author kept insisting that this is not the same old new age "woo woo" but in the very next sentence would go on to espouse the same old new age mumbo jumbo. Sure she has her own labels to sell her own brand of wishful thinking, but their really is nothing new or particularly insightful here.

Any additional comments?

You want to succeed in life? All of these self help books can be boiled down to one simple sentence. Identify what you like and then commit yourself to the effort needed to achieve it. Everything else is just fluff and salesmanship

Pure Magic

Would you consider the audio edition of Finding Your Way in a Wild New World to be better than the print version?

I really want both the audio version (which was captivating) and the print version (for reference)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Finding Your Way in a Wild New World?

I love all the stories, I couldn't pick just one to talk about. The interactions with animals are just amazing.

What does Heather Henderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Heather's performance of this book is a true performance, she elegantly weaves in the perfect amount of accents to help create a real sense of place and character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

In the course of this book there were SO many moments of bing. Light bulbs going off all over the place for me, bringing together so many things that I've learned in other places.

Wisdom from Martha, funny and poignant as always

This one didn’t make sense to me when I first heard it, but re-listening years later, I now understand.
