Publisher's summary

Many people feel called to help others and change the world, but they just don’t know how to fulfill their potential. They have the creativity and passion, but often get lost, not knowing how to direct their energies. Now, popular life coach Martha Beck shows how readers can find their calling in service and healing - while realizing their destiny.

With a sparkling, compassionate, and often irreverent style, Beck draws from a combination of ancient wisdom and modern science to help readers consciously embrace vital skills that may be embedded in our DNA and are now made accessible again. Beck shows how to put together an “inner team” and an external “tribe” of people with the same aims and outlines four simple Steps for Transformation: Wordlessness, Oneness, Imagination, and Creation. With step-by-step instructions and guided reflections, Martha shows readers how to drop into the wordless state of communion with nature and self, how to connect with the oneness between self and the universe, how to be empowered by the spark of inspiration, and finally, how to take action and realize their creative potential to make a lasting impact in their own lives and the world around them.

Heartfelt, inspirational, and filled with “a-ha” moments, Finding Your Way in a Wild New World provides the map for the unconventional life path that leads to miraculous change.

At First...

At first I pretty much hated the reader's voice! So much so that I was ready to return the book and search for another. But the cheerful engaging style grew on me - I'm a newbee to Martha's work - and I ended up loving the book and the performance. It's a classic. It's obvious this is a work of love, a gift to any and all of us who have an interest in birthing a transformed human experience on the planet. That may sound woo-woo. Oh well. This book is a gem. My 'hard' copy arrives today and I can't wait to start the exercises. That would have been difficult with the spoken version, I think. I may listen a second time AND on the basis of this book I'm seriously considering doing Martha's coaching program! So excited by the prospect, just need to take the leap!

Find Your Purpose and Get Happy!

I do Past Life Regressions, and I stumbled onto Martha Beck's work when I read and loved Lissa Rankin's book, "Mind Over Medicine." Reading Martha Beck's book reminds me of the "healer's journey," which she describes to a "T." It was her journey, and mine, too! I've been on it my whole life. Somewhat involuntarily! ;^)) (You'll get that joke if you read the book.) I'm now recommending both these books to my clients so that they can get inspired and brave enough to open to doing what their "soul demands." Once you know the over-riding purpose of your life, you can begin to walk like a warrior in the right direction. "Finding Your Way," is a book about smelling, sensing, tracking and feeling the path that will bring you the greatest joy! And Martha's book is filled with wit, wisdom and joyfulness!

Wow! This is a fun book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Finding Your Way in a Wild New World to be better than the print version?

I'll let you know after I read the print version. I liked the audio version enough to order it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This was told by the author. Not really a character book.

What does Heather Henderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really felt like Martha Beck was having a conversation with me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Expeditions into finding the Wild True You!

Any additional comments?

I had read a few Martha Beck articles in O'Magazine. I read the reviews of her book here in Audibles.com and thought, what the heck, I'll try it. Talk about feeling like Destiny dropped this in my lap. Wow! If you are reading this review, then there is probably something drawing you to listen to this audiobook. Beck's unconventional approach is simple and profound. It quickly brings you to a clear way to find and follow your path to your true self.

Delightful and fun learning experience

If you could sum up Finding Your Way in a Wild New World in three words, what would they be?

Joyful Mind Teachings

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well, obviously the author since she is sharing her thoughts and experiences.

Have you listened to any of Heather Henderson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - and this was a lot of fun to listen to. The various accents she used as part of the narrative were done well (at least they fit their stereotypes) and the delivery was good for the funny parts, with good comedic timing. There were some smile inducing sections, and a couple of laughs.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bend it Like Beck-I-AM (under some twisted cutlery)

Wisdom from Martha, funny and poignant as always

This one didn’t make sense to me when I first heard it, but re-listening years later, I now understand.
