    "Really helpful and practiacl"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I listened to it a while ago and I don't remember the specific techniques I liked.I do however remember that I was fascinated by every word and I felt like I never want the book to end.It talks mainly about listening which is something that I'd like to do more and better in life and in my marriage. It shows many examples of how conflicts that at first look unresolveable are being resolved by having the couple listen to each other.I also liked that the book is not repeating the well known principals of the 5 love languages (tough I think they are mentioned) but it gives new insights from totally new perspective, overall it is a must for everyone who likes to hear more of Garry Chapman.

"It's not about winning, it's about compromising."
Would you listen to Everybody Wins again? Why?

Yes to refresh myself with the concepts & stories. Learning to work together so the outcome is satisifying for both parties.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Everybody Wins?

Couple learning to compromise on painting the bathroom walls different colors.

What about Maurice England’s performance did you like?

You would think he is the author.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Everybody Wins?

It's not about winning, it's about compromising and listening.

    "too religious for me"

I thought this audiobook offered a few really helpful suggestions in how to work through conflicts in romantic relationships. However, I found them really difficult to swallow with the incredibly religious overtones in almost everything recounted in the examples. The writer seems to know everyone through a church, there is a lot of talk about God's love, praying, etc -- just a constant, unnecessary theme of religion running through the otherwise helpful insights.

I might not have minded it as much had I been warned in the audiobook's description, but since I'm not very religious myself, I found it very difficult to relate to, and thus, not really worth my money.

    "waaaaay too religious"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not religious, but I don't have a problem reading books from a religious point of view. This book was written from, about, and for ultra-religious people. I listened for about 30 minutes before I had to turn it off, after it became clear to me this was not a professional who wrote a self help book. It was a religious person acknowledging that even the most pious people have relationship woes.

What was most disappointing about Dr. Gary Chapman’s story?

It was a book on religion, not relationships.

What three words best describe Maurice England’s performance?

    It was fine.

    Any additional comments?

If you are semi- or quasi- religious and thought this book would be helpful and you could overlook or work in spiritual thought--move on. This book is for very religious people who want a few tips on how to work in a relationship. You simply cannot 'work in' spiritual principles to a relationship strategy from this book. The 'relationship strategies' ARE religion. Gross.
