Publisher's Summary

Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these 81 verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good.

In this program, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has reviewed hundreds of translations of the Tao Te Ching and has created 81 distinct essays on how to apply the ancient wisdom of Lao-tzu to today's modern world. This work contains the entire 81 verses of the Tao, compiled from Wayne's researching of 10 of the most well-respected translations of text that have survived for more than 25 centuries. As Wayne says, "This is an audiobook that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you'll live in a new world aligned with nature. I'm so proud to present this interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, and offer the same opportunity for change that it has brought me."

From the PBS series i thought I would try the book and was not disappointed. I buy every book I find and see myself listening to these affirmations during my busy day to keep life in perspective. Essential for developing and maintaining a strong spiritual foundation.

"Enlightening and a joy to listen to"

Because I now do daily morning walks, I decided to purchase (for the first time) an audiobook format to keep me company. I wanted something enlightening and motivating, and having remembered from years ago when I first read one of Dr. Dyer's books (The Power of Intention), I decided to check out some of his other works. I found this and I am so happy I did. Listening to him is very soothing along with the empowering words of wisdom and life lessons he so thoroughly gathered from the Tao Te Ching's teachings. It is so amazing that such ancient teachings can be so applicable to our lives today, and this is what Dr. Dyer brings to us. This has definitely shifted my ways of thinking and feeling, and I feel empowered to apply them to any situation in my life now when I need/want to with a much calmer and open heart approach. This has made me feel more centered and grounded. Thank you, Dr. Dyer!

    "Momentus"

All I can say is this is a masterpiece. That said, reading the book is slightly better vs. listening to the audio as the concepts of the Tau are a little strange to the western ear and it may take two or three readings of a concept for it to make sense. But if you can live with rewinding a time or two this is worth every penny and more.

"Excellent is the word it earns!"

Dr. Dyer speaks from his heart; his altruism and unpretentious attitude calm are apparent in his voice and the words carried on it.
This work should be read or heard by all, regardless of their faith, beliefs, or lack of them.
I listened to it on my way to work as a teacher in a state prison and it helped me to help them, and them me.
    Dr. Dyer, Thank You, Sir.

Well read by the author. However, some may misunderstand the depth of the message. It is an active accpetance of status quo that is the message rather than a passive acquiescence

    "Not the way"

I actually had hopes for this book. I knew there would be some amount of pantheistic babbling but the Dao can provide some great insights into life - new ways of thinking about things. My disappointment is that this book really does not meet man's real condition in the real world. The author's application to our time and place is too vague with too few insights.I would recommend William Martin's books based on the Dao; there is one for lovers, one for parents and one for the 2nd half of life.

    "A must read!!"

This audiobook is my favorite of all the books I've listened to so far... which is a lot! I found Wayne Dyer's voice very pleasant to listen to, and the content is fabulous. The information is well presented. If everyone lived according to the way of the Tao, the world would be a better place. As a reader of Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth I think this book covers many of the same concepts in ANE, only in an easier to understand format.

"He who knows does not speak ..."

He who knows does not speak, he who speaks does not know. And Wayne talks a lot (lol). Of course if you want to share this wisdom you have to either write it down or talk about it. Apart from a bit of self-glorification by Wayne, a bit too much talk (you could easily edit out 10-15% and keep the message intact), does he really have to repeat dozens of times that the Tao Te Ching is 2500 years old, ... this audiobook is a great way to either get to know Taoism or to make it part of your daily life. Inspiring and motivating. I highly recommend it.

Honest, well written and read account of the Tao

Without the BS associated with other writers, I have decided I will study the Tao - but in light of other philosophies developed in the last 2.5k years and some older.

I wont follow it wholesale - but I will recommend this book and I will be reading it again I it has changed my life.

Not sure I can live up to it, but I'm going to try. I intend to listen to this often. If everyone could put into practice even one of Lao Tzu's verses, what a world we could share :-) Wayne certainly left a positive footprint on the earth, and will continue to do so xx

A lot of complicated thoughts in this audiobook that may mean that I'll need to get the book as well just so as I can dedicate more attention to it. Dr. Wayne Dyer delivers another inspirational book that is well written and well delivered by Wayne Dyer himself. Very good if you can dedicate time away from distractions to it.

    "This is good stress relief"
What made the experience of listening to Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life the most enjoyable?

The calm and patient presentation by Dr. Dyer.

What other book might you compare Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life to, and why?

"The Road Less Traveled" and "Further Along The Road Less Traveled" by M Scott Peck. I read those and other books by M Scott Peck twenty one years ago after some months in a treatment center. Faith got me through those months, but these two books lifted the cloud. For me the 'gospels according to M Scott Peck' should be added to the new testament.

What about Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s performance did you like?

    his calm and patient presentation.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I identified with what he had to say, so in a sense, "yes"

If you have used previous works by Wayne Dyer just listen to the sample here. It will confirm the deep value of this book, AND that it works. Wayne's approach and manner is humble, gentle, and extremely encouraging.

    Exceeded my expectations.
