Publisher's summary

A stunning new approach to how individuals can not only change their lives for the better in the workplace, but also their lives away from the office, including (but not limited to) finding ways to improve one's working relationship with others, one's overall health, outlook on life, and so on.

For example, why is it that 95% of all diet attempts fail? Why do New Year's Resolutions last no more than a few days? Why can't people with good intentions seem to make consistent and positive strides in the way they want to improve their careers, financial fitness, physical fitness, and so on?

Based upon the latest research in a number of psychological and medical fields, the authors of Change Anything will show that traditional will-power is not necessarily the answer to these strivings, that people are affected in their behaviors by far more subtle influences. Change Anything shows how individuals can come to understand these powerful and influential forces, and how to put these forces to work in a positive manner that brings real and meaningful results.

The authors present an array of everyday examples that will change and truly empower you to reexamine the way you go about your business and life.

Change - Paint-by-the-Numbers

Actually, the book tells me things that I have been aware of for - well - ever, but the topic is bundled in such a way that I am seeing change in a different light. Here the listener will get a framework from which change can be made. This is a practical, psychologically sound, pattern changing approach to improving life, work, and what ever you want to approach behaviorally. The book presents six sources of influence on our lives, and then individual chapters detail how those influencers can be manipulated to our advantage. This is a very helpful book. Consider reading it soon - unless you procrastinate and this book will help you once you open volume! The writing is engaging and the reading of Joseph Grenny (the second author) is very good.

Really, don't bother!!!

I read some of the other reviews and am wondering if they weren't paid reviews. The author continually wants you to go to a website for a "complimentary" pro subscription because you bought this book. Narrator could have done a better job, but if you have read anything by Napoleon Hill or Dale Carnegie, you have read this book. The author makes some sense sometime, but save your money, read one of the other authors I mentioned.

Different

I have read/listened to numerous motivational books and speakers.Usually I get motivated for a while, but then it fades away. Rather than being information to tell me why I should change a habit (something I already know), this book delves into WHY I don't change - even though I have lots of reasons to and I really WANT to. It involves just enough scientific research to back up the claims, without getting boring or over-involved. These also showed me why some of the successes in my life happened - I could see the changes I made in relation to the information given. There are excellent tools for figuring out how to make this work for you personally, including access to a companion website.

One of the best books I have read on change

One of the best books I have read on change. Their theory is that willpower for change is overrated. Then they go through a systematic way to approach change which is very uplifting. The power of this book comes from the way they made this theory so easy to understand and apply. Love that the second half of the book is detailed examples. I have found all Kerry Patterson???s books to be excellent.

You can do this

I have read a lot of self-help books and this one is among the best, if not the top one. The writing is simple, clear and witty. The narrator does it justice and doesn't get in the way of listening to the content. The main reason why this book stands out for me is that it tells you you're going to screw up and, more importantly, how, when, and what to do about it. They authors make you feel completely normal for having tried and failed before -- you see yourself in their examples throughout the book. Then then show you specific fixes for what to do when you're in that emotional/behavioral place again. I haven't actually tried this yet (just finished listening) but if I (and you) can't follow the plan in this book, no one can change.

The book is based solidly on science and research, but retains a real-world view of the challenges of chaging our behavior. The authors provide a special access code for their website where you can see the experiments and get more help than is on the regular part of the website.

There really isn't a negative thing I can say about this book. It's definetly worth a listen no matter what it is you want to change about yourself. Listen to it even if you think someone else really is the one that needs to change (they talk about that in the book).

Part advertising to get a free trial on their web

Well narrated, offers some tips here and there but I saw it mainly as propaganda to go to their website and get a free trial of their program - which could be good but not the "book" I thought it would be.

The Best Change Book Ever

What does Joseph Grenny bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His emphasis and enthusiasm was perfect. He has a great voice for audiobooks.

Any additional comments?

This is the book you need if you seriously want to make change. It has an accompanying website that helps you follow through and provides a coach and email notifications. It is free for 90 days after using the code in the book. I am on my second read and am able to skip some parts quite easily. I am now taking notes too, as I found there is too much to recall when making your change plan if you didn't take notes. The website helps a lot there. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I have read hundreds of self-help books, always trying to change something or grow, and this one is among the most practical and, I believe, likely the most effective. It's all based on research that is current and historical. Thanks for this great book.

Excellent Source for Change

The authors' focus on change mechanisms and their concept of the listener as both scientist and subject are compelling. They give logical ideas for change based on the work of Albert Bandura, well-known in some circles for his work on self-efficacy - a perfect springboard for this kind of book. I finished with tangible ideas for making changes in my life and access to their website to help me make those changes. My life is already better for having just finished this audiobook.
