Publisher's summary

What are little boys made of? It used to be frogs, snails, and puppy dog tails, but today it is MTV, ADD, and STDs. So how do parents raise their sons to be respectful and responsible young men in a toxic culture that relentlessly undermines masculine virtues such as moral strength, self-restraint, and respect for women? By letting boys be boys.

Dr. Meg Meeker, best-selling author of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, follows up on her success with Boys Should Be Boys, a guide for parents on how to raise a strong son in these turbulent times. Taking listeners on a journey from boyhood to manhood, Boys Should be Boys delves into the mind, heart, and spirit of boys, showing parents how they can make a difference between the boy their son is and the man he will become.

So thankful that I’m listening to this!

I’m so thankful that I’m listening to this book while my son is only 2 and my daughter is only 5. What an evil world we live in today! Lots of challenges ahead for us parents....but my husband and I feel that we are a bit better prepared after listening to this book.

My Wife and I both benefited

Our 5yr old boy has been challenging his Kindergarten teacher. He is bright and learns quickly but is very rambunctous. Instinctually I knew that he was just being "a boy" but it was nice to get some confirmation. This book taught me that it's not just that "Boys will be Boys" but as the title says, "Boys Should Be Boys". And I just need to fight for him as well as shape him!!

Great Book! I would hightly recommend to any Mom and Dad of boys

Couldn’t Wait to Listen

Just overall so good about a boy becoming a man. And what a father needs to understand about raising a son and children in general. I would listen again and plan to do so. I would sit in my driveway after getting home from work. Just to hear 5 more minutes. Loved It!

One can gleam some information from it.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't. It was too long for the points being made. Time is valuable and I won't get those hours back that I lost listening to this.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

n/a

Would you be willing to try another one of Pam Ward’s performances?

Nope.

Was Boys Should Be Boys worth the listening time?

No. Get to the point.

Any additional comments?

I agree with her about many things, but I felt like I was being preached to. Maybe it was the narration of the book that made me feel that way. I believe in a good objective moral upbringing, so that wasn't so helpful. Her stories seemed...uh..almost made up. I wouldn't discourage someone from listening to it. It just wouldn't be on my list of books to recommend. I'd be more likely to recommend Christina Hoff Sommers instead.

Every Parents must read

It is awsome to hear such insight into the mind and actions of my little boy. I think i remember allot of my own boyhood, but this filled in the gaps.

All parents (especially boy parents) should read!

Boys are maligned and mistreated in today’s feminist and Information Age society. This book provides loving tips and ways to give young men outlets for freedom! A strong society can only flourish with strong men, so this book is more necessary today than ever.

Inspiring

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I reflected a lot on being a boy. Reminding myself of what it was like growing up and bringing to my mind ways to be a better more supportive father.

What other book might you compare Boys Should Be Boys to and why?

Strong Father Strong Daughter was also an excellent book by Meg Meeker. Understanding how much influence a father has on his daughters well being and development gives a lot of pressure to be a good dad.
