I was very encouraged to read this book. Our frame of mind has a lot to do with the decisions we make and the things we do. I was great to get some reminders of what I can do to improve my outlook. Very practical.
Remove the Bible bashing! It just got unbearable. I love Zig and I am born and bred a Catholic, but this just went way too far.
I will be reading more reviews before purchasing my next Zig Ziglar book. I don't want to be disappointed twice.
Entertaining, engaging and Southern
Zigs stories are always entertaining.
Get Ziglars "How to stay motivated" book instead. That one is recorded live so includes a lot of humour and while he does reference the Bible, it does not feel preachy or over done.
Over the years I have read and gave his books to others as gifts. This is the core of the idea without some of the ideas that don't stand up well to the test of time. I loved his first book at the time, but this is better.
His deliberate and systematic love and support of his family both biological and community -- how they built him up, how he works for them.
Over and over again Zig Ziglar speaks of the people who have been central to his life, who have corrected him, His daughter Julie is his editor and he speaks very candidly about how her contributions have made this a very different book than what he would have written. He speaks in detail about how his brand is occupied by the people in his life -- how his wife is his business partner, how his business plan is not dependent on him as an individual.
If you only listen to books in Central American Midwest accent this book is not for you. If you don't like to hear a man take as his own a standard cliche social role (man of the South) then blow through the concepts central to the cartoon cutout usually put up to ridicule, this book is not for you. If you want a good start on a rubric that was designed from the start to be more than just one man, and that continues on today, this book is for you.
I'd heard the name of Zig Ziglar off and on for years but didn't know a thing about him. When I saw this offered for $4.95 I thought, "Why not see what he is about?" I like to listen to positive people.
What I learned was that Zig is a type of preacher of the Christian variety. Maybe not ordained but a preacher nonetheless. This was a big surprise as nowhere in the book description was it indicated that he lards his pep talks with Biblical verses at infinitum. I found this excessive.
His basic advice, though, is common good sense, things you have heard all your life. No complaints there.
Ziglar talks about God and the Bible non-stop in this audible book. Instead of putting it in the category of motivational books, it should be put with other Christianity books. I'm not at all anti-Christianity, but I still find it irritating.
Yes because it's inspiring and has proven methods to increase happiness in your life
Zig is undoubtably a Christian but not once did I feel forced to belive what he believes apart from the core moral/ethos. Pick up and listen and be inspired not matter what you believe religiously or humanly! It makes sense to all
This guy is a legend.love listening to his audio books.THe only reason for holding back on 5 stars was the faith and bible stuff.Sorry Zig ,you are great .your audio has helped me a lot but a little too much religion for me in this recording.
"Bangs on about his fundamentalist Christianity"
I have been a fan of Zig Ziglar for years. In this book he bangs on about his fundamentalist christian beliefs.
I was left with the impression that the old boy likes anything that is christian and doesn't like any that isn't.
save your credits and listen to some of his older material.
