Would recommend to all considering beekeeping

The audio book "Beekeeping Buzz" was my first experience with this authors work. I welcomed the chance to listen to this beginners beekeeping book when I was offered it in exchange for an honest review. I've always been interested in beekeeping since I was a child. The fact that something as small a a bee could have such an impact on all our lives fascinates me. We as humans don't often give these insects enough credit for all of the benefit of our food supply. Not only would we as a species slowly starve to death without them, I personally would miss honey were it not for the tremendous amount of work that bees do to get a pound of the sweet stuff.

This book the the author Nicole Wrinn has written certainly goes into some great detail for the beginning or want-to-be beekeeper. Not only does the author explain the ins-and-outs of getting your first hive up and going, but also asks the important questions about where to locate the hive considering your neighborhood, your property conditions, your city ordinances and your neighbors reaction to having hives close by. These are definitely some things to consider before investing in this as a new hobby, past-time or business model. Consulting with an active beekeeper in your area is probably the first step in investigating if you have what it takes to succeed at this.

The author goes on to explain the types of equipment you'll need to take this up as a part-time hobby or even as a full-time venture. Nicole even suggests that this be taken up as an "experiment" at first, to see if you have what it takes to run this as a business venture. She explain that although bees do the work of gathering the resources to make honey, they still need constant attention to ensure a healthy, disease-free hive. Overall, a lot of thought
was put into this book to help the beginning beekeeper get started on the right foot. This is a great audio book, and I'll refer back to it often as I ponder my own situation for starting this venture. Nicely researched and written, as well as narrated. I would recommend this book to all that are considering beekeeping on their property.

An Excellent Resource To Get Started On Beekieepin

What did you love best about Beekeeping Buzz?

This is a good beginners book to help get started in beekeeping. It is easy to understand and was perfect for me to listen to during my drive to work. My interest in beekeeping is mainly for sustainable living and the enjoyment of being able to harvest honey in its purest form. Listening to Beekeeping Buzz has taught me some practical tips and inspired me to make my own honey.

What other book might you compare Beekeeping Buzz to and why?

This book is comparable to The Bee Book For Beginners by Frank Randall, as it is an introduction to beekeeping and covers the tools needed to become a beekeeper. Just as Randall's book, this should be a bestseller.

Which character – as performed by Arielle DeLisle – was your favorite?

This is an instructional book. There are no characters.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

I will definitely remember to look out for certain diseases in the process of beekeeping. This was vital information that the author included,.

Any additional comments?

This audiobook is organized and narrated in a very engaging manner, which can be challenging for instructional books.

Superficial

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.

I just recently completed a Beekeeping class and was excited to get to listen to this book. This book is brief and very superficial on some very important subjects such as how to maintain your hives and diseases/treatments. To me, this felt more like a pamplet than a real book on beekeeping.

The narrator, Arielle DeLisle, was fine. I did not detect any audio issues.

Awful all around

Voice annoying. Content subpar. Definitely better books out there. Dummies guides are much better. Not worth $5.00.

Great learning tool

If you are on the fence of becoming a beekeeper or just want to learn the basics this is a solid start. This book covers safety equipment, location of hive, brood, drones, workers and the Queen. In addition, to viruses and the dreaded Varroa Destructor (Mite). Some of the treatments are questionable. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Good luck
