Audible Editor Reviews

“A man is literally what he thinks. His character being the complete sum of all his thoughts,” writes James Allen, the British writer who pioneered the self-help genre, in As a Man Thinketh. In this audiobook, Allen directs the listener to make changes from within in order to achieve results. To find success, one must transform a weak mind into a strong one through correct thinking. Voice actor Jim Roberts gives a clear and straightforward performance of this inspirational guide to improving one’s life.

    "Great listening"

"He that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened!"

Whenever I listen to this book, it reminds me again and again how important it is to think accurately, contructively, and positively. It is only an hour long, so I listen to it often while driving, and the narration was okay I guess.

The author doesn't really give out any tips on how to think correctly or set of instructions on what we need to do, but he generally covers why we need to control ourselves and think good thoughts. This book puts me to remain on the positive frame of mind.

    "No Excusses!!"

After listening to this, you can no longer blame others or circumstances. I have listened to at least 40 times. I recommend at least 3 times before you rate it. It was such a shift in my thinking that it took that before I could really hear what he was saying.

    "Everyone should own this book"

50mins very short. I love it. But its not something that you can completely injest with one read. Everyone should read it at least 100x within their lifetime

    "Good old-fashioned advice..."

...that's still applicable today. This book says more in an hour than most other personal motivation books say in 10 hours. It's premise is on how our thoughts, not our circumstances, create our results. Its just a lot less fluffy than those other books. If you want basic, no nonsense advice, than this book is for you. Listen and you'll see why it's one of the classics.

    "Too difficult for me!"

I got to this book thru a quote by Dale Carnegie. Unfortunately it is too dry for me. I just could not listen to all of it. I consider myself a better listener than reader but I just could not finish it.

"Not as powerful as I thought it might be"

I have heard many reviews regarding this book from many motivational speakers. This book however just did not have a great impact on me. Not sure why, I did find the content a little boring and the speaker failed to make this an interesting read for me.

"Learn to take control of your thoughts"

If we see our mind as a beautiful garden that it is, then we should endeavor to guard it from the minutest of negative or uninspiring thoughts.

This book has left me with the knowledge and wisdom that to be truly free, then one needs to take absolute control of his/her thoughts.
