Publisher's Summary

In this witty and insightful guidebook, the author compares sea otters to humans, as he draws lessons on happiness and well-being from these furry little rodents.

Otters may just be lowly rodents, unaware of such human pursuits as philosophy, technology, or science. However, their simple lives, which they dedicate to family, and predicate upon affection and love, greatly elevate their stature among God's creations.

They may never read Shakespeare, nor comprehend the nuclear reactions taking place overhead in the sun. However they have something that may very well be far more significant and profound. Otters are happy!

The same universal principles that lead a sea otter towards happiness will operate on you or any other individual. Learn how to be so obnoxiously giddy that your neighbors, friends, and family all puke from disgust after just five minutes in your presence!

"Great marriage advice straight from an Otter!"

Hiram brings you into his life and opens up about what it takes to build a great lasting marriage and family. This book should be mandatory reading for all young men dating, engaged or newly wed. He outlines some basic principles that make for a happy marriage and home life. I liked the references to Otters and how they live and thrive. This is a great quick listen that could be renamed to Guide to Being an Obnoxiously Happy Husband and Father.

"Great read for anyone interested in living better!"
What made the experience of listening to An Otter's Guidebook to Being Obnoxiously Happy the most enjoyable?

The author pulls from common sense, from his own stories, and of course from otters in nature to share insights that can help anyone live life more richly.

What was one of the most memorable moments of An Otter's Guidebook to Being Obnoxiously Happy?

The frequent references to otters was truly delightful. I've never seen an angry or agitated otter and the points that he makes are valid for humans. We have a lot to learn from otters.

    Which scene was your favorite?

At one point he and his wife "traded roles" and she became the families primary breadwinner and he talks about the different dynamics that they created....and more importantly the dynamics that didn't change at all.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

I really liked the authors commentary on some of the things that they do when running their household. While hardly the theme of the book, I liked the insights into their own household.

    Any additional comments?

    Very enjoyable read!
