"Most complete yet concise audiobook on mindfulness"

Jon hit the nail on the head with this book. It covers everything you need to know to be confident that you know how to use mindfulness meditation in just a few short hours. If you are someone who has bought various books on meditation but are still confused, or are just a plain beginner, this is the audiobook for you.

Guided Meditations included in the book:
    (1) 15 minute guided bell meditation at 1:00:57,
    (2) 30 minute body scan meditation at 2:38:27, and
    (3) 45 minute sitting meditation starting at 5:33:18.

(Side note: Chapters 10 and 11 are repeated. This was a small mistake, but in no way does it detract from my appreciation for this book.)

    "Production issues"

I'm a big fan of his work and enjoyed this very much. However, Audible customers should be aware that there are large sections of this that are repeated; at least three chapters, by my count. Obviously a production error, but it's frustrating to buy something and then hear substantial portions of the book duplicated. Still worth listening, though.

"great book on staying in the present moment"
What made the experience of listening to Adventures in Mindfulness the most enjoyable?

This was my first audio book on mindfulness and I thought the author did a great job of describing the different techniques for staying in the moment. There are several guided meditations and tips for "breathing into the moment". As other reviewers noted, chapters 10 and 11 are repeated, but I did not find that this detracted from the book. It is a great book on learning how to stay in the present moment.

"Great Content, Problems with this Audiobook File"
Would you listen to Adventures in Mindfulness again? Why?

I enjoyed this book very much especially the guided meditation. It truly help me center myself.

What other book might you compare Adventures in Mindfulness to and why?

    "Stillness Speaks" by Eckert Tolle

What about Jon Kabat-Zinn’s performance did you like?

He has a very calm and relaxing tone to his voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

(I have to say, I have purchased dozens of books from Audible the form they use for reviews is awkward and does not allow for a full review of the book as it asks questions that may not be relevant to what you want to mention about the book.)

    Any additional comments?

As mentioned by another reviewer in 12/13, there ARE production issues with this audiobook. I thought I was crazy when I heard the author repeat himself a number of times knowing I had not rewound the audiobook. Sure enough, 2 if not 3 chapters are REPEATED. SO, the book is not as long as the file indicates, somehow they inserted a bunch of the audio twice in the file. I have reached out to Audible as I have never had this happen before I trust they will want to have this fixed. It was disappointing and confusing.

"Jon Kabat-Zinn is wonderful as always"

I have to preamble my review with some background about where I am coming from. I am a biased listener. I have listened to the complete set of mediation cassettes that I bought from U Mass pain management clinic by Jon until they literally fell apart. I have had the pleasure of attending 2 week long professional training programs with Jon and Saki over the years and have devoured all of Jon's books. My only quibble with Audible is that they have a limited collection of his books and that they are ABRIDGED. I hate abridged books in any form! As to this recording I loved it. Even with recording flaws I wouldn't miss a chance to listen to the author's humane, kind, and balanced perspective on living in the world. I whole heartedly recommend this "adventure" and any chance you might get to spend time with Jon--recorded or in person.

    "Shoddy"
What did you love best about Adventures in Mindfulness?

Great material, but for some reason the same segments start to repeat over and over towards the end. Some of the segments are on there several times. Very shoddy quality.

"The essence of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s philosophy"

A practical approach to Zen Buddhism applicable to daily life. It is a condensed version of his books and the author’s voice is in-keeping with the message. But even though I really appreciate the author and I never get tired of reading or listening to his books, it would have been nice not to have to listen twice to chapters 8 and 9 (duplicated in 10 and 11).
