In this nine-session curriculum, Dr. Myss reviews her results with thousands of people in search of healing, and identifies the one power that can literally change the future: your power of choice. Each choice you make can bring you into partnership with the divine, Dr. Myss teaches, in a sacred process of co-creation. To open to the divine mystery, and work with it as your partner in creation, Dr. Myss identifies four central archetypes and seven principles of co-creation. Join Dr. Myss as she explores how to work with these principles, and apply them to the most important areas of your life: money, relationships, career, creativity, and spirituality.
Advanced Energy Anatomy guides you to a new understanding of how archetypes and other unconscious forces relate to problems of health, addiction, self-esteem, and victimhood, while opening you to partnership with the divine power that makes everything in life possible.

"So well organized and intimately expressed that repeated listening and sharing with friends will be hard to resist." (AudioFile)
This book is a thought-provoking must read for anyone on the spiritual path. I've often thought how much easier life would be if I'd been born with a user's manual and this book comes close. Although Advanced Energy Anatomy is the text book of the spiritual classroom, the material is anything but dry. The author lectures in a soothing voice and imparts humour as well as wisdom. As I listened to Advanced Energy Anatomy, I had many moments of epiphany. How much better can you get than a book that makes you strive to be a better person, to serve yourself as well as others and tells you exactly how to do it. The author speaks plainly and leaves out the riddles and puzzles so many other authors confuse us with. There is nothing vague about the wisdom Ms. Myss imparts. It's a straightforward listen with plenty of no-nonsense advice on how to co-create your own reality in a positive, self-empowering way and how to help empower others without losing yourself in the process. The book covers spiritual approaches to work, relationships, creativity and much more. Think of the time you spend listening as an investment in your spiritual wealth.
Caroline Myss has always had mixed reviews, as she tends to "shuffle around" when she speaks. Either people (such as I) are able to relate to her blunt manner, or are turned off by it. I found this selection to be surprisingly clear and organized for a Myss book, but was even more surprised at how I felt that she was speaking directly to ME. I literally listened to each segment 15 times, as I tried to soak in every word and apply it to my life. I LOVED this selection, and rate it as my favorite Myss title (of which I have many).
I highly recommend both the Energy Anatomy and Advanced Energy Anatomy lecture series. I will provide this same commentary for both series.
In Energy Anatomy, Caroline reviews the seven chakras and describes our development as we progress thru them. This is content that is presented in her book Anatomy of the Spirit. I can see parallels between this content and adult development theory. As a coach this information is helpful context and provides a framework in working with my clients.
In this lecture series, she goes beyond the Anatomy of the Spirit book to discuss practical ways to apply the information she presents, including suggestions on how to think about illness and spiritual crisis.
In Advanced Energy Anatomy, she continues and expands the conversation to help us understand how to be "mystics without monasteries". She also describes the 8th and 9th chakras, which are rarely discussed and are consistent with the I AM teachings. She provides a wonderful transition from our current thinking on religion and spirituality to the deeper, mystical works in Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity. Her comments are supported by the work of the scholars who are working on the Nag Hamadi, Dead Sea Scrolls and other lost gospels. She provides broader context for many religious traditions and her interpretations make sense. She has a PhD in Theology from which she draws much of her content, and also integrates her personal experience and stories of others she has worked with as a medical intuitive.
She is feisty and humble, wise, passionate and entertaining. I enjoy her books and I especially enjoy her audio recordings. I hope you enjoy them as well!
There are a lot of reasons why one wouldn't relate to this presentation. One might be dogmatically attached to one particular version of religious "truth." Or one might not be aware of all things (or anything) spiritual, and still be too grounded in the physical. But I don't expect that many people thinking about trying this recording fall into those categories. If you don't, and if you're thinking of trying to open up to perspectives that value our individual manifestations of Spirit, then I highly recommend this recording.
There have been as many ways to try to divide up and explain spirituality as there have been religions and cultures in history. This presents one more way to look at things, one more way to categorize the energies and intuitions we all have in a way that helps us understand how they work. In that sense, this isn't the ONE answer to everything that's wrong with our lives, any more than any set of ideas can be the ONE answer for everyone. But I have no doubt that this is a set of concepts, ideas, descriptions, archtypes, etc. that provides very real understanding and if used along with one's personal sense of connectedness to Spirit can smooth rough waters and give paths to finding out what we're here for.
It's a tool, like any other, and it won't change your life unless you use it. But is it worth checking out? Is it worth the price? Definitely.
Advanced energy anatomy is full of great insight into the practical methods of co-creation. Myss tends to focus heavily on how our beliefs dictate our reality. She specifically takes a deep look at our relationships to money, to other people, and to the divine and the role those relationships have in forming our lives. If you like Carolyn Myss, you'll definitely love this audiobook. As usual, it's insightful. It's gritty. It's got a lot of interesting anecdotes. My favorite part of the audiobook is the discussion on work vs vocation. Myss spends a lot of time discussing why we feel called to do things other than what we're doing now and how we can build a successful life around our interior desires. The series incorporates a lot of her previous work, such as the four core archetypes. If you've never been exposed to Myss, I recommend you start with something a little more accessible. Invisible Acts of Power, Defy Gravity, and Anatomy of the Spirit are the three best introductory pieces to her work in my opinion.
Someone else giving the lecture.
Throughout the book she told illustrative stories. She didn't use names but through her words and intonation alternatively berated people, talked about people as if they were beneath her and generally came across as mean spirited.
I liked the core of her message. I just didn't like her.
Yeah. Decent content. Maybe I'd pick up a book by her but I will never buy an lecture by her again. She put on voices for people. Demeaning voices. She told a story about a long time "friend" who would have to recognize herself in the book who she trashed. I just don't need to take spiritual lessons from someone who is so condescending and rude.
Reconnective Healing Practitioner
This is one of the best audiobooks I've heard. I made me realize that I need to look at my intetions once more.
I can really recommend this audiobook from my heart to yours.
I am not one who usually gives archetypes a lot of credit. However, Ms. Myss broke open a lot of patterns that had been unconsciously operating in my life. I recommend this recording for anyone who wants a unique perspective on the conditioned patterns of one self, and how to bring light awareness to destructive or limiting patterns.
It's amazing how Carolyn provides the model for spiritual advancement. I am very skeptical about all these hocus-pocus stuff as there are too many books written at superficial level. Also, too many spiritual teachings are discussed in abstract and impractical.
More importantly, you may seriously consider taking the learning into practice. As an NLP practitioner, corporate trainer, consultant, I can see how Carolyn's work is truly vital in today's personal and professional world.
I especially enjoyed this book because it presents a broad spectrum of real time examples that demonstrate the power of archetypes in healing. It's healing in present time, useful. I just wish Dr. M would get a different reader; that midwestern twang sometimes is distracting.
This is definitely one of the best 'enlightenment' series type books I've listened to or read! Extremely insightful and Soooooo true - if you choose to actually listen and admit to yourself what you truly are and how you behave naturally!
It explains everything - how and why we behave in the manner which we do, how and why things happen to us the way they do. And it's all up to us in the end!
"The Next Step!"
After listening to Carolines book Energy Anatomy I thought I would give this one a go....and I wasnt disappointed! This book does cover bits from first book but then takes it much further! Its interesting to have some one make you look at things from a different angle! It certainly helped me to see what drives me and if I actually want it to be what drives me! Its been great to realise what makes me tick and how I could change my focus to direct my own energy!
"Advanced Energy Anatomy"
I love her. I love her voice. She is so confident and persuasive and therefore very credible.
