"how to survive life intact"
i have read the book and listened to the audible and it was just as good Bear has his own survival teqniques to living life which i tried to put into practice even if you take a little from this you will gain alot
I was at a boarding school as well and life is very much like he described and it was nice to hear that you are not the only one to go through this and to see a more human side that everybody can associate with is great
sorry not yet but will look out for him in other books
both as i said i have shared alot of the ups and downs from school to the military and it makes you feel that nothing is out of your reach
Very motivating book that is split into small digestible chunks through interesting stories about Bears life. A book for all ages with many valuable life long learnings and honest advice and morals.
"A kick up the backside we all need in life!"
inspirational, uplifting, driven
Can't pin it down to one - the stories Bear has to tell of his life experiences, Everest, the last sip of water in the desert and many more!
A balanced, calm but firm voice, who portrayed the essence of the book perfectly.
If you want it, go out into the world and get it! Don't give up!
Bear offers guidance, insight into his mind-set, experiences (which he generally wants to pass on to others), passion, drive, a reality check to the sometimes harsh experiences we face in life. Most of all though, this book gives you a kick up the backside to get off the sofa and get out there and live life to the full!
No, it's not a 'how to' book on the great outdoors, it's not a 'how to' climb everest. It's not even 'how to' catch bugs to eat or drink pee to survive guide! But it IS a thoroughly brilliant book to get you motivated and to see the bigger picture in life. it's uplifting. The chapters are short, really short, but that's the only downside I found. Starting reading this through a recommendation and so glad I did. So far listened twice. He's able to make you feel more, and want to get more out of life. What a fabulous read to get you up off that sofa and help you get your life back!! thanks bear :)
I will be listening to this weekly until it sinks in. Some truly great advice from Bear who has a great outlook on life, not just his life but every human.
"guide for life"
Good solid advice, gryllsdoes well at keeping it simple and therefore more useful good length too.
Great read. Thought provoking, witty and informative, whatever your age. Buy it for friends and family!
"A helpful guide in life"
Yes, I have listened to it 3 times since buying it. I found it a help in things to think and do in life, and easy to listen to.
"The Obstacle is the Way" and "The way of the SEAL" as focus on overcoming challenges in life.
Clearly read, brings his experence to life, easy to listen to.
"Self help Bear Grylls style"
Not what I expected and when I started I was a bit disappointed. After a few chapters I though this would be great for teens, towards the end I actually quite enjoyed it. Well, who wouldn't enjoy the relentless upbeat, can do, never give up, be a better person attitude that comes with Bear Grylls.
For this type of book its length is about right not sure much more could have been added.
So, if you are a teen / early twenty, read it, live by it and life will be good. If you are an old grey hair like myself then it's still not a bad reminder that a relentless upbeat, can do, never give up, be a better person attitude would have been a great way of living the past 40+ years.
