For so many people, whether your addiction is to a substance or merely to a certain way of thinking or acting, a profound humbling occurs when you realize that your problem is bigger than you are. The terror of realizing, even dimly, that you have no control over a self-destructive pattern of behavior - that as much as you would want to, you simply cannot stop - can mark a crucial turning point in your life. At that point, you go in one of two directions: either way, way down, or way, way up....
This audio is for you if you know in your heart that you are an addict, and that you are powerless before your addictive behavior. As the title promises, Marianne Williamson looks at weight loss from a spiritual perspective, bringing you 30 lessons that can be done separately or in conjunction with any other serious spiritual path. These 30 lessons are completely separate from anything related to diet or exercise - they will retrain your consciousness in the area of weight in order to break the cycle of overeating, dieting, and shame that rules so many lives. Finally, Marianne has brought you what you’ve been waiting for: help to heal your addiction once and for all!

I am really enjoying this Course as part of my spiritual journey and my quest to allow my body freedom forever from compulsive dieting and overeating. I have, it seems, been on a lifelong journey to "get skinny," and though I gave up diets years ago, I still struggle with fear-based overeating. In my heart I always knew that my extra pounds around my mid-section were due to a spiritual dis-ease, rather than anything I was or wasn't doing in the physical world (I am a very active dancer and teacher who carries about 20 lbs. of extra fluff around the middle). I have found much comfort and catharsis in Ms. Williamson's prayers and journaling lessons. She is helping me face the fear of other people and of life that underlies my use of food as a pacifier. In my opinion, one does not have to be Christian to enjoy this program; however, one does have to be open to the concept of surrender to Spirit, much as in a 12-step program, which is what I am finding particularly inspiring and so different from other weight-loss efforts I've made. Overall, this audiobook has very much inspired and comforted me in my ever-deepening spiritual quest to live free from fear and in Love.
Marianne Williamson has given us a great gift in the form of a beautiful weight loss transformation that heals the ROOT of the problem in a warm humorous healing way. The weight is dropping off me effortlessly as I realize that the body problem is a product of my own erroneous belief system. This is a sacred healing text and I AM so grateful for it!
Excellent book! We all can diet, and we also know diets don't work long term. This course which will requre YOU to do the work and change your subconscious to make a change,to root out fear and embrace love. As Marianne said " .This course is not about our relationship with food, its about our relationship with love. For love is a true healer. And Miracles occur naturally in the presence of Love."
I am a health coach and I have connected a lot of dots with this work. About to read for the 3rd time. My body is changing in just few weeks.
I thought the book had some helpful ideas, but would be better used in printed format. The worksheet pages are repetitive being read out loud, and would be hard to follow unless you quickly write them as she speaks them.
My main complaint was that the author reads this SO fast. I found that the speed, and her dramatic inflections, distracting and at times unpleasant.
Its another book that came along a the perfect time in my life. I have always battled with my weight. I have been really seeking spiritual change and growth in my life and learned that everything is spiritually connected. Sh breaks it down and gives you examples I really understood and it has helped me tremendously. I could apply this principle to other areas in my life.
Discovery, understanding, life changing
The most memorable moment during the book was when I was finally able to make a connection between my cravings for certain foods and my emotional state. I discovered what I had been lacking emotionally and how this was a factor in my overeating.
I have not listened to any Marianne Williamson's performances before this one.
the voice and soul of Marianne Williamson
the interpretation of the problem, the new vision totally different about the problem that a lot of people suffer in silence. It's a new beginning!
I have a really extreme reaction, make feel in peace and to feel a new inpowerment of my self.
If you are tired of trying losing weight, and tired of readings book that promise you the definitive result, try this one! it a new vision, a new beginning that bring you peace and love to yourself.
After purchasing the hardback I found myself distracted (although interested) and didn't get that far into it. Hearing it on Audible was so much better. Maybe because it's a different time in my life. After finding there's a direct link between being overweight and breast cancer (diagnosed Nov 2014) I was forever changed anyway...all things about me , as it turned out, had to be re-examined. I "went spiritual" and never looked back. It's only reasonable that I'd get back to Marianne Williamson, right? This is my first book of hers, however, for me. (Course in miracles coming up). My FAVORITE part is the prayer towards the end. Where I become light filled.
My journey thus far, has been wild. Beginning with Caroline Myss and Anita Moorjani as authors . I've "shed" 70 lbs without any diet. Marianne Williamson deals directly with the actual issues of weight and gives clear direction on what to do about it. Final results being weight lost and most importantly spiritual renovation/renewal. This book is perfectly timed now to let me know what I'm doing right and am inspired by the author to keep moving closer to God, ask for divine help and then accept it totally.
High recommendation for the serious minded . I wish you well.
Always loved this ladle's philosophies, so when I found out years ago that she was inspired by Oprah to compile her thoughts and experience about food obsession... I was in!!!
I have the book & followed it faithfully. I retired 20 pounds. Now I am looking & feeling much better.... I purchased the Audible book to remind & inspire me with the next 20 pounds so that I will be sleek & petite in my mid 60's & beyond.
"Deeply thought provoking"
Even though I have been offering a weight loss service myself for many years and have read widely on the subject ,I feel this book is one that any compulsive eater should listen to. Firstly have to say, if you are touchy around religion you might find the references to God a bit disconcerting, but if you accept this as the reference to our higher selves/ divine mind then you can get on with it just fine. If you have no feel for spirituality at all- forget it! Nice thing also about this audio version is the voice is very clear and has an uplifting quality to it. Highly recommended
"Not what you expect"
This book is not for someone who wants instant solutions to weight loss. Rather it addresses the background behind why we become over weight in the first place and helps to address that with exercises and mindful solutions.
"Weight loss dietitian"
I found this book ground breaking both personally and professionally.
I've already bought it for clients and family members. I listened to the whole thing around 2-3 (busy) days. I'm sure I'll listen many more times and buy it for many more people.
Thank you Marianne X
"Not my sort of book"
For the right person i'm sure this is a good listen. I just didn't enjoy it at all. The content grated on me rather than inspired me.
"utter waste of money"
I bought this book thinking it would help with weightloss but it just rambles on, very boring, and loads about Oprah, whilst im sure she is a lovely lady, this book was like a fan club to her.
i was very disappointed and stopped listening halfway thru.
No, Im sure there are plenty more that would appeal to me.
By concentrating on what the title said, sticking to that subject and not rambling on and on about Oprah.
Most of the god stuff and gumph about Oprah
I wish id gone with my gut feeling and bought another book.
