Awesome but unexpected ending
I enjoyed the suspense and the way the story unfolded. I didn't like how Mia wasn't projected in a stronger light. I love reading about strong women; it boosts women everywhere. I appreciate that she stood up to her marriage, but I didn't like how she tolerated her mother's old-fashioned ways. My mother, who has been gone for some time, was old school in that her life revolved around her husband. In her mind, women were not good if they didn't get married. I disagree with that and believe we, as women, should be able to do what we want, the same as men. They don't have to give up their dreams, so why should we? I hated at the end that she apologized for having the job that she did and didn't see the value until the ex told her how valuable she was. That part made me want to throw the book, but I was at the last chapter by then. Mia is a great, dedicated detective who, I wish, could have been presented in a strong light, but then I'm not the author.
