Publisher's Summary

Abigail Sutton's beloved husband walks out one night, doesn't return, and two years later is found dead, a victim of a long ago crime. It's made her sympathetic to the missing and their families.

Starting her new life, Abigail moves to small town and buys a fixer-upper house left empty when old Edna Summers died. Once it was also home to Edna's younger sister, Emily, and her two children, Jenny and Christopher, who, people believe, drove away one night, thirty years ago, and just never came back.

But in renovating the house Abigail finds scraps of paper hidden behind baseboards and tucked beneath the porch that hint the three could have been victims of foul play.

Then she finds their graves hidden in the woods behind the house and with the help of eccentric townspeople and ex-homicide detective, Frank Lester, she discovers the three were murdered. Then she and Frank try to uncover who killed them and why...but in the process awaken the ire of the murderer.

The most memorable was the kids. It hurt my heart reading about them!!

What about Wendy Tremont King’s performance did you like?

This isn't my first book narrated by her and as always she does a great job. She is so easy to listen to and has the right tone for each situation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I think it only took me 2 days to finish because I had to know what would happen next.

    Any additional comments?

Scraps of Paper is such an emotional book at times because as the story unravels, your heart will break for those kids and what they were put through. It's a great murder/mystery and I love the setting too. Spooky is such an awesome name for a town!!! Can't wait to read the next installment in the Spooky Town Mystery.

It's one of the best. The performance pulled me into the story.

What other book might you compare Scraps of Paper, Revised Author's Edition to and why?

There is another book by the same author on Vampires that I liked very much.

Which character – as performed by Wendy Tremont King – was your favorite?

The main character. She was very believable and I felt very sympathetic toward her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When she first moved into the house and started fixing it up. A personal fantasy is to buy a house out in the country and fix it up.

    "Good, clean, fun mystery!"
If you could sum up Scraps of Paper, Revised Author's Edition in three words, what would they be?

    * I listened to the audio version of Scraps of Paper; and I was provided this audiobook by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.*

I enjoyed this story about Abigail Sutton, a woman who lost her husband one night after he walked out to get cigarettes and never returned. Two and a half years later she learned he had been mugged, robbed, and left for dead. After learning what really happened, Abigail decided to change her life and move to a new town to escape her lousy job and empty apartment, and, of course, escape the pain of losing Joel, her husband. Then, Abby discovered the town of Spookie, and decided to explore it.

Now, the real mystery began when she stumbled upon several tiny scraps of paper with messages, while fixing up the house. These were messages from the past, from two children -- previous residents of the house. Soon Abigail became preoccupied with hearing them and eventually she became a killer’s target.

This was good! If you like things that go bump in the night and you don’t have an overactive imagination that will make you also begin to hear things in the night, then you’ll enjoy this as I did. Clean, good fun. Recommended!!

    "Great Story!"
What did you love best about Scraps of Paper, Revised Author's Edition?

I loved how Abagail was able to solve the murders of so many people after 30 years!

What other book might you compare Scraps of Paper, Revised Author's Edition to and why?

I don't have a book to compare this to & I don't like to compare books as if someone doesn't like the book I compared this story to, they will dislike this story without even giving it a chance, & that isn't fair.

Which character – as performed by Wendy Tremont King – was your favorite?

I liked 2 characters a lot. 1st is Abigail. I loved how she cared so much as to solving the murders How Abby tracked down every lead & kept going around town talking to anyone that might have known the deceased family. I also really liked Frank. Frank had known the deceased family 30 years ago & moved away. Since he had moved back & he listened, believed & protected Abby while helping her solve this murder story! I didn't like John Mason at all!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes, it was that good.

    Any additional comments?

This is a very well written story. I loved the plot and all the twists & turns in it. The author, Kathryn Meyer Griffith did a great job at getting my interest & keeping it. What a great way to lead us into a murder mystery by using scraps of paper! The narrator did a great job too! With all the different voices, this book was very entertaining. It sure kept my brain active! The narration was flawless! Kudos to you both!

    "I love KMGs books!"

I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. The thing I liked best was that despite several clues throughout the story, you did not know until the very end who done it. Many suspects, but the ending was a surprise.

Loved Wendy Tremont King's narration. Even her male voices were believable.

I highly recommend Kathryn Meyer Griffith's novels.

    "Enjoyable small town mystery"

An interesting, well written mystery set in a quaint small American town. Abigail Sutton moved to Spooky to start a new life after the body of her husband, who has been missing for two years, was found. Trying to earn a living as a freelance artist, she is accepted by the towns folk and forms firm friendships with the town realtor and with Frank Lester, an ex Chicago cop. Abby discovered a mystery surrounding the whereabouts of the previous occupants of her new home; secret notes, unknown lovers, violence and hints of ghosts permeate the mystery. When Frank and Abby try to solve the old mystery, things start to heat up and the whole town is caught up in the puzzle of the missing family. This audiobook is an interesting whodunit that kept you wondering who the culprit was right up to the end. The storyline was well fleshed out and the characters had depth, even the dead ones! The story of the missing children and their mother pulls at your heartstrings and you become invested in finding what happened to them. The slowly developing relationship between Frank and Abby is gentle and sweet; showing respect, friendship and patience, with hints of the potential of more in the future. The narration fit the characters well and she moved the story along at a good pace. This was a clean, and at times a suspenseful, mystery that was, enjoyable, well written and well narrated. I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review

"Great old fashioned mystery about a long ago crime"
What did you love best about Scraps of Paper, Revised Author's Edition?

I was glad this book only had the faintest touch of the paranormal, perhaps just fate, that drew Abigail to the strange little town called Spooky. I enjoyed the pace and tone of this novel, but most of all I liked the picture the author drew with her words, the picture of a small town, an old house, a woman struggling to start life anew, and the man she meets. This was a clean, interesting, well fleshed out story with a satisfying conclusion.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Both the mystery and the evolving relationship between Abigail and Frank kept me intrigued.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The ending was very exciting. I also like how the story of Frank and Abigail ended up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, the easy pace and gradual unfolding of the clues made it easy to put down and pick right back up as time allowed.

    Any additional comments?

I listened to the audio book as I read, a feature called Whispersync, and I must say, Wendy Tremont King was just perfect as the narrator. My attention never drifted from her story telling, and she was easy to follow. I look forward to the next book in the series.
