Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • This instant classic explores how we can change our lives by changing our habits.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Wall Street Journal • Financial Times

In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

A great read/listen, very well written.

Apart from narrating, which seemed annoying at times, the book itself is a very insightful, almost scientific book on habits. The author does well by repeating the same idea of clue-routine-reward throughout the book without you getting bored of it. Excellent examples on how habits affect our everyday lives and those of companies. Gives an alternative view on things.

Great book with too much unnecessary stroy telling

What made the experience of listening to The Power of Habit the most enjoyable?

The narrator was the best I've heard so far.

Would you recommend The Power of Habit to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend only the last 20 minutes of the book, the rest is just too much information.

Any additional comments?

I learned a lot from this books, I could say too much. All I wanted was a formula that would help me change my habits and to be fair, I got it - the last 20 minutes of the book. The rest was just story telling with too much insights and details, which my in my opinion were unnecessary.

Insightful and useful.

Great reading/listen, lots of different case studies and useful discussion. Discusses social and business habits, which I found more fascinating than my original draw of personal habits. Well rounded view of habits that surround all of us.

Understanding the blueprint for habits

This book was a delight to listen to. Each chapter explained the neurology of habits through different and interesting case studies. It ranged from addiction, to marketing campaigns and how songs become popular on the radio. I highly recommend it.
