Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • This instant classic explores how we can change our lives by changing our habits.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Wall Street Journal • Financial Times

In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

An interesting analysis oh Habit.

Charles Duhigg takes an interesting approach to compiling an analysis of habit and habit formation. I really enjoyed this title, and would recommend this book to anyone in the industry of personality development psychology.

Interesting but repetitive

This book came highly recommended for me so I was excited to listen. It certainly had some interesting stories and I picked up on what I believe the author intended by them but it felt like something was missing the entire time. Normally I can finish a book this long in about a week but I found myself dragging this out for closer to a month. I just could not sit and listen for hours at a time. Not to say it's a bad book but it seemed a little lackluster in my eyes. Still worth the listen though.

A Good Read for Changing Bad Habits

For all of us, there are bad habits that we know if we change we will become better servants for ourselves and others. This book offers well-written explanations of why we have habits to begin with and how to change bad habits into good ones. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to master their habits to become a better person.

Many interesting facts & easy to read

I most often listen to fictional novels but make it a point to read a few books each year that will broaden my knowledge. This one was a great choice as it's well written and uses stories (examples) we can all relate to. The narration was also good where many non-fiction books can be very dry.

You may learn things about yourself (or spouse or others) you hadn't thought of before. It's good insight into why we do things we do, but also talks about how we can change habits we don't like. Overall, I recommend it.
