Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • This instant classic explores how we can change our lives by changing our habits.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Wall Street Journal • Financial Times

In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

First book I have read on Habits that makes sense of what habits really are, identifying what the key components are and providing a detailed framework for how to change them.

Profoundly influential

I read this book for one of my english classes and the research from this book has affected the way I look at everything. Once you understand how habits work it's hard not to see the pattern in the things you do everyday. The book is filled with relevant stories and research which blend together nicely and keep you emotionally invested.
Glad to have read it.

Loved it, very useful

What made the experience of listening to The Power of Habit the most enjoyable?

Realizing how much of our life we live based on habit made me realize how much I really miss of my life. This book was like a wake up call in part. O another hand it made me think about what are the habits I have in my daily life, and what are the ones that are bad and really want to change. I managed to quit smoking and make a habit out of keeping my house clean every day. My house now looks prettier. And I smell nicer.

What about Mike Chamberlain’s performance did you like?

Very good narration

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

This book can be used as a self development tool or just as another book to read. If you decide to use it as a self development tool it has a lot to offer. If you decide to use it as just another book to read, you will find out a lot of new things about how habits work. Either way, I enjoyed it.

excellent book

I enjoyed listening to this book, because the research is explained with true stories. It is not technical and gives practical ways to create or change habits. Very enlightening studies about how comsumers are manipulated in ways we didn't realize using data we give them.
