Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • This instant classic explores how we can change our lives by changing our habits.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The Wall Street Journal • Financial Times

In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Life changing read!

This is a life changing book. I have read/listened to it about 3 times now. Learn something new each time. Also serves as a good “reset” when I stay too far from what I learned while reading

Very informative

It’s not until the appendix that they discuss how to apply these principles to your own life but the information is very well put together and told through interesting, interweaving stories. It can bounce back and forth but I didn’t think it was too hard to follow. If you want information about habits it’s good but if you want inspiration to change your own habits I’d recommend Atomic Habits instead.

Habit as it pertains to business

An interesting read.

The stories primarily apply to habits in relationship to businesses and groups of consumers. For example how Target is able to market and predict purchases based on your spending habits. The book is less about individual habits and how to improve your daily life, more about habits and cues of groups of people.

Still interesting, just not what I was expecting.

Highly recommend

At 1st when I started listening to this book I was disappointed. I was wondering how to book a. But as I kept listening to the stories of is the stories of each company's or person's habits and how they overcame them I realized it was a how to book. It's vital listening to how each person or company overcame their habits help me to learn how to identify my own and to overcome them. At the end of the book he does gives some practical tips but again it's not a complete how to book. Anyone who's looking to change habits habits, This book is a great starting platform.

Well written. Well performed.

Author uses stories to illustrate and reinforce concepts bringing something very concrete and memorable to abstractions. Mix in scientific facts and evidence and the content is very clear and persuasive.

VO talent does a great job of bringing the stories to life, providing great dimension with his voice. Subtle variations in tone to help differentiate the quotes of those interviewed from the background narration. Typical business books are accompanied by dry VO or strained technique by the author who is not a professional VO artist. This VO artist does a great job of making the book easily followable and entertaining thus helping get the concepts across. I would search out other books voiced by him.
