Publisher's summary

Think smart people are just born that way? Think again.

Drawing on diverse studies of the mind, from psychology to linguistics, philosophy, and learning science, Art Markman, Ph.D., demonstrates the difference between "smart thinking" and raw intelligence, showing listeners how memory works, how to learn effectively, and how to use knowledge to get things done. He then introduces his own three-part formula for listeners to employ "smart thinking" in their daily lives.

Smart Thinking gives listeners:

  • The means to replace self-limiting habits with new behaviors that foster smart thinking
  • An understanding of the mind itself as well as memory
  • The ability to define and solve problems by finding and applying relevant knowledge
  • Ways to present and process information effectively

Brilliant!

Art Markman makes it so clear how to think better to solve problems, innovate, and get things done solo or in groups that this book is a must. Not pop psychology and not long and boring. If you just take away the concepts on smart habits you are a winner baby.
Do yourself a favour and listen to this book slowly. Learn from it and take the concepts into your own realm you will profit straight away.

Thumbs up

Lots of great information in this book and it is well narrated. A bit long and dry in some parts, otherwise it may have received 5 stars in my review. However, it is still well worth the small investment.

Amusing and logical

This book reinforced some concepts I have been applying on a daily basis. Although I didn't find the book original I recommend it as it is a great guide for a structured and rational thinking and efficiency.

Fully Developed Suggestions

Contact was presented in bite-size pieces. And it was actionable. I took notes along the way and believe I will put some of his ideas into action.

Good, informative, but not page turner

I enjoyed the listen. But like many of the books in this genre it does get a little tedious. Worth a credit, just not a book to rave about.
