Critic reviews

"Silent Spring came as a cry in the wilderness, a deeply felt, thoroughly researched, and brilliantly written argument that changed the course of history." (Al Gore)

great narrative of industrial -icide problems

I was skeptical about a narrative regarding such an important topic, but this was executed so well. Gives the reader/listener compelling evidence in their lived lives. I mourn what we have done to our children's world. What a different existence...

Must Listen, Great Narration.

One of the best narrated books I’ve listened to yet. It’s a great pace and easy listening from the narrator. The content is a bit dated but it’s still highly relevant. A must read for anyone interested in the impacts of chemicals on our world.

Incredibly well writte - almost poetry

Just as relebant 50 years later, A must listen, for anyone concerned with the future of Life on earth. How beautifully the language flows is magnified while listening - even with such scary topics.

I am speechless. This book is an AMAZING TESTIMONY

Based solely on factually unbiased, statistical evidence, Rachel Carson wrote an almost poetical biography of our Mother Earth/Gaia's Sorrow her pain. Now in our "collective conscious awareness" Birthing Ecology. I dare you Not to Care!

This information has been available for a long time

There is so much talk about us poisoning ourselves and the environment currently. This book brings to light the fact that this has been issue for over 70 years. More people need to get behind our healing of the environment. It is so important for our own survival.

Still worth the read!

Rachel Carson was one of the first to sound the alarm about the impact of harmful chemicals, particularly herbicides and pesticides.

If you are a baby boomer, you MUST read this!!

while the info is dated, and many of these chemicals are now banned--because of this book!!--those of us who grew up in the 40's-60's MUST read this. i am 56 and both my mother (who is 90) and I are now suffering from debilitating diseases which were definitely caused by my father's insane over-use of chloridane in that time period. he died many years ago of a stroke and other diseases which are directly related to these now-banned pesticides. these chemicals remain in our system and have probably also affected our children and their children! what a legacy our government left us in its selfish, self-serving, special-interest-guided efforts. does anyone know of a parallel book written since this one?

Seems to a timeless lesson.

I'm this leadership era of Neanderthal thinking this would be a s pertinent book to assign to to those tasked with leading certain agencies. Given it age it's obvious an astounding of research not to mention passion went into this book.
