Publisher's summary

How do our thoughts and emotions affect our health? Are our bodies and minds distinct from one another or do they function together as parts of an interconnected system? Candace Pert - a neuroscientist whose extraordinary career began with her 1972 discovery of the opiate receptor - provides startling and decisive answers to these and other challenging questions that scientists and philosophers have pondered for centuries. From explaining the scientific basis of popular wisdom and phenomena like "gut feelings" to making comprehensible recent discoveries in cancer and AIDS research, Molecules of Emotion is an intellectual adventure of the highest order.

Where's the substance?

Seemed more of a journal of the author' s experiences.
Needed more information on how the molecular emotions effect the body. And suggested alternatives.

Cutting edge science meets with spirituality.

This audio book is the result of breakthrough thinking by a top female scientist that is not afraid to challenge the establishment. She uses everything in her scientific background to prove the validity of claims made by alternative medicine practitioners.

not what the title suggests

This book is largely autobiographical. It only lightly sketches out the basics of the molecular foundation of emotions. If you are looking for understanding of that chemistry, or, more likely, how to use that knowledge to better yourself, then look elsewhere. Further the authors consistent self promotion is tiresome; though understandable, given her experience.

Sci Degree Preferred :-)

This is a deep message that is best enjoyed with the aid of your BS degree 😊 Meaning, many scientific concepts are covered, so you may wish to visit Wikipedia a few times as you listen to this fascinating book. 👍

Still fabulous

Love Candace Pert and still love this piece of work.
Easy to understand by most, this details why we feel the way we do under certain circumstances and what effects the emotions have on molecules and molecular structures.

Paradigm shifting

This book is about an incredibly strong woman who is brilliant, and who was a groundbreaking, researcher and scientist.

Everyone online owes her a debt of gratitude.
