With pristine beaches and the seductive surf, Hawaii is as close to paradise as America gets. Almost one and a half million people live in Hawaii, mostly clustered on the eight major islands that make up the 50th state. And every year, millions of tourists visit the state. In fact, tourism is the backbone of Hawaii's economy. The tourists come to enjoy the hundreds of miles of Hawaiian coastline, pristine beaches, and beautiful clear water. But this water is also a curse, because it could one day bring unthinkable destruction to these shores in the form of a deadly tsunami.
