This book is all about the single most powerful move that humans can make to promote health, reduce obesity, lower the cost of health care, nurture our fragile environment, conserve our energy resources, feed the world’s steadily growing population, and greatly reduce the suffering of animals in factory farms all over the world. As Dr. T. Colin Campbell says, “It turns out that if we eat the way that promotes the best health for ourselves, we also promote the best health for the planet.”
Like a blinding flash of the obvious, the single most viable solution to all of these issues is an aggressive move in the direction of consuming much more whole, plantbased foods—not necessarily becoming vegetarian or vegan. This book clearly explains how and why we began eating the wrong food for our species and provides helpful guidelines for getting us back on the road to vibrant health and effortless weight loss.
Fortunately, despite the incredible complexity of our current dilemma, the solution is refreshingly simple. It merely requires educating yourself, making better choices in what you eat, and then sharing all that you have learned with everyone you care about. There has never been anything more important in the history of the world.

This is one of the best audio books I have listened to regarding health and our environment. It's material that should be taught in school but will never be allowed until the government gets out of public schools and stops controlling the curriculum.
By far the most memorable moment of the book was making the distinction between our eating habits and their affect on the environment.
Mike doesn't just read the story to you, he is engaged in it.
I think this entire book is good. A lot of the nutritional information is identical to "The China Study". That's good since I hope more people get that message and act on what they learn.
This is a very good audio and I highly recommend listening if you are ready to make changes to your health and the environment. They are more connected than I ever knew.
The last hour and a half or so was interesting. I enjoyed his ideas on how to begin a program of eating a WFPB diet. I think this book would have been much better if there was more emphasis on his personal experience, lessons learned, strategies, and the day-to-day life of being vegan, especially for a busy professional. He simply mentions in passing his son and other family members with demanding schedules that have made the successful transition to the WFPB diet, but then fails to discuss their experiences or strategies. How does a busy working mother and father accommodate a vegan life style with kids? He superficially touches on helpful ideas, such as eating out, planning meals, making a menu, etc. However these topics were left woefully under developed and were the biggest questions I needed to have answered. If you have an interest in nutrition and have listened/read the books already by authors such Campbell, Pollan, etc the majority of the book will be old news.
Only if they were entirely new to the subject and had not already listened or read other authors on the subject.
I felt like the majority of the book was simply a book report or re-reporting information of other people. As stated above, I would have really found his experiences and those of his family dealing with their transitional experiences and daily strategies more valuable.
This book is loaded with information and research findings--it is not a light and entertaining listen. I listen to this title when driving or walking to help reinforce lifestyle changes I am trying to make. The narrator's performance is rather pedantic and becomes a "forceful" monotone after awhile.
This book strengthened my resolve to move to a whole foods plant based diet. There are many different reasons from my personal health, from helping ease the suffering of animals and beginning the reversal of trends that can ultimately destroy our planet.

A must read- we must educate ourselves to cure our ailments- and resolve the problems and misconceptions within our healthcare industry- and that is just for starters. Optimal diet is a necessity!
The author brings to discussion a very important subject and offers the reader a new kind of diet, which should be followed by everyone. His arguments favoring this "new diet" are quite strong and have almost completely convinced me if it weren't for the author's radicalism at some points.
It is easier for me to listen to whilst walking the dog than try to read at home surrounded by the family
