The first few chapters the author plugs his company constantly. At first I was good with that since it was his book - but then it became annoying. Other than that, there was a lot of information to take in.. I found myself wading through all sorts of issues trying to find some thing similar to what I was experiencing. Sadly, the scenario that fit my issue took a mere 1-2 minute to cover and very little information was actually provided. In the end, I thought this audiobook simply gave the reader/listener just enough to to keep them curious rather than providing useful information. I'm guessing those who needed to know more will have to seek out Amen's office - which is exactly what this book was intended to do. Worth a read but overall it was very mediocre.
Probably, but definitely Healing ADD
I listened to Healing ADD immediately before this, so was a bit of repeat. I have since taken my son to his clinic recently - so I'm obviously a believer
I gave up on this book half way through. While many of the anecdotes about brain function and human psychology were entertaining, this book is, at its core, a shameless plug for Aman Clinics. Save your time and money.
It's an interesting audio book.,but not so convinced by the content.
Unfortunately the author who is also the performer of the book is terribly monotone and very boring.
Id rather get the book and miss he listen.
More content, less advertising. I felt like I was listening to a late night TV infomercial
Too much anecdotal evidence, has quite good health advices in general. Too much stories, although I enjoyed some of them :) as they gave me new perspectives.
I am reading the book instead... Did not have a good experience with the audible version.
Trying to find a method to listen to it in my vehicle. I usually play CDs.. I have burned 10 CDRs for this title and it still does not work properly. My other audible books work fine!
Yes. Full of valuable information.
I was searching for books to help me work with adult learners coping with anxiety. This book presented itself and I thought 'Why not?'. The book was an eye opening experience.
Well organized, well argued and well presented, understanding the biological roots of neurological processes is fascinating.
Before reading, I perceived neurological issues as existing in some sort of sphere almost independent of their biological engine. Certainly I knew nutritional choices like energy drinks, excess caffeine, sugar, the S.A.D., created some issues with behavior, attentiveness, nervousness, focus, and learning - but I had no idea how physiologically important a proper metabolic environment could be.
As your body gets bigger, your brain gets smaller. What greater motivation for making positive lifestyle choices?
Overall this book has some advice on how to communicate with certain types of personalities, but did not provide what I was looking for. That said, the book is aimed at personal change and has had a profound impact on my approach to nutrition.
