Publisher's summary

Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults. The Starways Congress so fears the effect of the descolada, should it escape from Lusitania, that they have ordered the destruction of the entire planet and all who live there. The Fleet is on its way and a second Xenocide seems inevitable, until the Fleet vanishes.

"As a storyteller, Card excels in portraying the quiet drama of wars fought not on battlefields but in the hearts and minds of his characters." (Library Journal)

Exploring every angle

This book is the ultimate philosophical debate against itself. Every side of an impossible choice is explored, and every sides feeling of correctness is justified. The morality of choices that could lead to atrocities are given their fair voice when balanced against the alternative atrocities. Ender and the cast must navigate a no win situation and just when you think the Deus ex Machina is going to cheat us into an exit route, there's an unexpected cost and we plunge right back into danger. 3 books so far and 3 home runs. Great Sci-fi for the Arm chair philosopher in us all.

answers many questions from the 1st book

I'm now almost done with the shadow saga and my love of Orsin Scott Card's stories truly started with this book. many questions were answered from ender's game and Soo many more questions were asked. truly a great novel series.

Disappointing ending after 20 hours of listening

I've been going through the whole Ender's series and this is the first one that kind of left you hanging and introduced some confusing concepts.

Great story.

I think it is a must for all that have followed the path of Ender. I truly enjoyed the way the stort tellers to this store. There is a lot left in story unanswered but that is for the next book.

least favorite so far

The story of path rambled on for too long. I much preferred the story of Lustania.

Loved it, hated it, cursed it now will probably re-replay it

Ok so let's have a conversation about what is life, just for kicks let's throw in a discussion about how we respect others even when we're afraid; add a quip about then nature of reality. Ok don't make 3 books just mash them into one. Make it progress slower than a dead snail with only a hint of brilliant writing just in time to prevent rage quitting. Finally wrap it up with a solution so infuriating that I'm pretty sure that If I was just a little bit smarter I would have enjoyed it more. I feel like I started seeing great art but blinked instead of focusing and missed it.
