Publisher's summary

When the Rho Project’s lead scientist, Dr. Donald Stephenson, is imprisoned for his crimes against humanity, the world dares to think the threat posed by the Rho Project’s alien technologies is finally over. The world is wrong. In Switzerland, scientists working on the Large Hadron Collider have discovered a new threat, a scientific anomaly capable of destroying the earth - and only Rho Project technology can stop it. In exchange for a full pardon, Dr. Stephenson agrees to create a wormhole that will send the anomaly into deep space.

But his promise masks the alien agenda that brought the Rho Ship to earth. Now a trio of accidentally altered humans must infiltrate Stephenson’s wormhole project and stop it, no matter the cost. The final battle has begun - and this is one battle mankind cannot afford to lose.

Weakest of the series

Of the 3 books in the trilogy I generally expect the finale to be strong but this was the weakest of the group. Stand alone I wouldn't recommend this but if you've read the other 2 then you should just to see it through.

Brilliant and Amazing

Any additional comments?

This was the most amazing, brilliant trilogy I have read in years. It was impossible to put down. The writing was good, the characters relate-able, the story was amazing - I know, I keep saying amazing. I just finished the third book and I am just sitting here in awe of the story. WOW is really the only word that comes to mind. I hope that Richard Phillips continues to write stories like this for years to come. If you like a great science fiction story, that could be happening out your front door as you read this review, then you will love this trio.

A trilogy that gained momentum from the start

I enjoyed the whole series. I listened to them back to back as I found the story so compelling.

At first I thought it was a young adult series (mainly as the lead characters were teens) but soon forgot that.

A great story well told; what more can I say?

Good right up to the end but then falls flat

One of those stories that keep you glued to the plot right up to the end but then leave you wondering if you've missed something. I could not help feel that the grand finale was out of character, the last few decisions pointless.

Fun, Fast, and Furious

Would you listen to Wormhole again? Why?

I already have. These three novels of The Rho Agenda trilogy are like a three act play. The Second Ship introduces the main characters and presents them with a life changing problem. Immune focuses the attention of the government conspiracy and a brutal international assassin on our three young heroes, robbing them of their once comfortable lives, and launching them on a run for survival. Wormhole sets the scene for the final battle for our planet and, in a climactic crescendo that seems to span a third of the book, the action is rapid fire and unrelenting. I don't believe anyone that enjoyed a movie like The Avengers could listen to this third book only once. When MacLeod Andrews reached the end, I could only say, Wow!

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Heather McFarland. While this character begins the trilogy as a close approximation of one of the Walton daughters, as events shatter her life around her, she evolves into a leader, making tough decisions and viciously executing them, not without remorse. It's nice to see strong female characters that are central to the plot.

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think he's great and this one ranks among his best performances so far.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I tell you what boss, I wouldn't screw with her.

Any additional comments?

The climax is one of the most mind boggling action sequences you will find anywhere. You're going to have fun with this one.

Fun read

Would you listen to Wormhole again? Why?

Once is enough

What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

his last "presidential voice" sounds like Dan Rather. Made me smile.

Any additional comments?

Not sure if he intended to do so for subsequent books, but there were some rather dramatic events that had no follow up.

I Never Read a Book Twice, This Series I Will

Where does Wormhole rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The 3 Book Series are at the top of my list.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wormhole?

This series is so beyond pin pointing one moment. I'll admit when they reached out to Janet Smithe my eyes were wet. This is a very clever story with brilliant technology, great characters, fresh perspectives and original ideas.

What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is one amazing narrator. He must be an actor to pull off all those voices. Never over the top. Can't imagine a better mix of story and narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Same as above

Any additional comments?

Lucky you that had not read this series yet. You are in for a great ride.

Good ending to the Rho series

I did enjoy this book - the 3rd and final installment in The Rho Project series. Macleod Andrew's narration was perfect- I could listen to him any day! At times the technical explanations in the story line made it drag but I still enjoyed it.

Another captivating story

Book 1 focused on quantum entanglement SciFi applications while book 2 turned its attention to wormholes and a near-eminent event horizon. Book 3 of the trilogy finally brings on the warring aliens and goes into much more depth as to their motives and does so in the thrilling manner we've come to expect from the first two books.

[WARNING spoiler="ALERT"]
I dropped it one star since the author left several story arcs unresolved (Jen's addiction, Rho ship's whereabouts, pay back for US government's duplicity, &c)
