Even though they attend a school of gifted students in New York City, child geniuses Louise Mayer and her twin sister Jillian have always felt alone in the world, isolated by their brilliance. Shortly before their ninth birthday, they make an amazing discovery. They're not alone. Their real mother was astronaut Esme Shenske and their father was the famous inventor, Leonardo Dufae. They have an older sister, Alexander, living on the planet of Elfhome, and four siblings still in cryogenic storage at the fertility center. There's only one problem: The frozen embryos are scheduled to be destroyed within six months. The race is on to save their baby brother and sisters. As a war breaks out on Elfhome and riots start in New York City, the twins use science and magic to plow over everything standing in their way. But when they come face to face with an ancient evil force, they're soon in over their heads in danger.

First, it will help to know that this one takes place almost exclusively on earth, and actually begins before Tinker. If you had to read it before any of the others, you could, but why? It covers a longer timeline, and so ends just before the end of Elfhome, suggesting that the two storylines are about to merge. Oh, the possibilities.
Tanya Eby does a really great job, especially with Joy and the babies' voices. I look forward to future books in this series.
I listen while commuting. This book was a problem as I had trouble stopping when each commute was finished. I have been greatly enjoying this series!
I am a mom of 4 that loves loves loves my Megan, Colin, Joshua & Aiden baby.
Now I have to wait for another book and I really thought this was the end. That is my only complaint! This was a great book and a very easy read!
I've been a book-a-holic since the age of 12, but didn't start listening to audio books until 2008, and Jim Dale's Harry Potter hooked me
Although the book is wonderful, the audio book takes it to the next level. I have listened to the book at least a dozen times since I downloaded it, and it still makes me laugh and cry every time.
All of the characters are so well written, it is hard to choose a favorite, but I have to say I do love Joy.
Tanya Eby is amazing, and she brings all of the characters to brilliant life.
I have shared this series with all of my friends, and we are all anxiously awaiting the next book.
Book 4 in the series. Start with Tinker, then Eolf Who Rules, then Elf Home.
This series is one of my favorites it was very surprising in many ways the characters are wonderful the story is actually in dept and very thought out
The author has given the characters wonderful personalities and the worlds that they live in are very interesting each character adds to the layers of this fast moving story. The narrator in the story was wonderful I loved her characters voices were very individualized
Not really. the story, and the performance are good. the problem is that wen spencer has the writing style meant for teens and young adults, but then tries to put adult things in her books.
The two main characters were good. It was funny to listen to them overcoming trials.
My favorate scene has to be when the two main characters break into the museum.
Again I have a hard time understanding what this author is thinking. This book is written like it is meant for teens, but then she adds adult subjects for no reason. One problem I had was when the twins would think about something and they would swear. Mind these are supposed to be nine year old girls raised in a nice home. I doubt they would be thinking swear words like that. Yes they were smart, but when the author had them thinking like that, it made it more difficult to believe. Honestly someone needs to sit the author down and tell her that she needs to either change her style or leave out the adult content. If she did leave out the adult content, I bet she would have a lot more readers.
