Narration is simply annoying

I purchased this book because I like this genre. I was disappointed in the narration. The narrator sounded like she had difficulty with ennunciation, especially the words ending with a "s". Although this may have been a better read than listen, I thought the author struggled with any new ideas, and decided to throw in every supernatural creature she could imagine. Shea, giants, were, vampires were only a few. I can't imagine purchasing any more of this series.

Disappointing

I will not be buying another book from this author. The character's lacked creativity from from their names (a villain called "Bad Ass Luke", really?) down to their predictable behavior. I had a hard time even liking the characters and believe me, I did try. The story felt undeveloped - like a rough draft. The world, the magic, and the relationships among characters were not developed in any way that made much sense. The narrator was alright, she over does the villains' voices with the raspy and shrill sounds - it was a little cheesy.

I purchased 5 of these books at once because I'm really pretty easy to please and was just looking for a nice fantasy to listen to when I work out .... I forced myself to finish this book thinking I would grow to love the characters eventually and maybe I would enjoy the remainder of the series. I don't think I can listen to another one :(

The narrator was the worst. It almost ruined the series for me. Only thing that is keeping with this series is reading the books on my own.

Would you try another book from Yasmine Galenorn and/or Cassandra Campbell?

What a waste of 15 bucks this book while maybe interesting for someone (who has never read the genre) is leaps and bounds behind true quality books such as Jane Yellowrock, Mercy Thompson, or even Spider's Bite.

What could Yasmine Galenorn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Less cliche, less acronyms, better writing.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cassandra Campbell’s performances?

Absolutely Not a performance at all. Reader struggles and has a very monotone voice and absolutely no voice inflection or pitch every character is exactly the same.

All of them.

I wanted this book for a long time read the first chapter in Barnes and Noble twice. Wanted to like it, but wow this cheap copy cat material= poo-poo.

I tried multiple times to get through this book but the story, characters and overall book were horrible. I was bored and didn't care about the characters at all. Finally gave up!

Had a Hard Time Getting into this Book

I tried listening to the book several times, but I had a difficult time getting into the book. Although the storyline is meant to have drama but be light at the same time. I was not drawn into the story line. This may be the only book I read from this author as a result. It's a shame because I was looking for a new series. This just wasn't for me.

Not worth it

I can't recommend the book: no suspense, one-dimensional characters, stereotype monsters. Really nothing that convinced me and I definitly won't buy the two sequels. And yes, as others have pointed out: the authors spends more time describing lingerie, clothes, make-up etc than action. If you are interested in this genre, I would recommend Kim Harrison's Hollows series.
