Publisher's summary

We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she's stressed. Menolly's a vampire who is still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I'm Camille - a wicked-good witch. Except my magic is as unpredictable as the weather, which my enemies are about to find out the hard way.

At the Wayfarer Inn, a portal to Otherworld and the local hangout for humans and beasties alike, a fellow operative, Jocko, has been murdered. Every clue points to Shadow Wing, the soul-munching, badass leader of the Subterranean Realms. He has made it clear that he aims to raze humankind to the ground. Our assignment: Keep Shadow Wing and his minions from creeping into Earth via the Wayfarer. The demons figure they're in like Flynn. After all, with only my bumbling sisters and me standi g in the way, how can they miss? But we've got a secret for them: Faulty wiring or not, nobody kicks ass like the D'Artigo girls.

Great series gets better

Witches, vampires, werecats, oh my! And an assortment of magical creatures from dragons to unicorns that I've never found in any other series. While the sex scenes are awkward -- the author gets better over time until I couldn't stop listening. I can't wait for the next book!

Boo

This Book was Mildly entertaining. The over use of kitchy catch phrases like "not just naked but NEKED" was immature and stupid. The sexiness and romance seems forced and over all I was uninterested in the characters and whether they won or not.

the narrator sounded hot though.

Over all it was garbage.

This is fun

I'm new to the modern Witch books, with all the giants, harpies, vamps, fairys, baby gargoyles and shapechangers, but so far I'm having a blast listening to it. Narrator could use a little more enthusiasum, but other then that, this book is good fun. Looking forward to the next books in the series.

So many mixed reviews..

Based off of the description I thought these books would be in my wheel house but all of the negative reviews held me back for a long time. I’ve heard a lot of bad narrators so with that warning I thought I’d give them a try. Now I will say I’m an “escape” member, so credits are different when in that category. Most of this series is available on “escape”. I’m not sure why everyone complained so much about the narrator. She certainly didn’t earn the rep I saw in the reviews. She isn’t an all time favorite but give her a chance for yourself. Don’t let the other reviews turn you away. The story it’s self was pretty good. Again I wasn’t blown away but I was invested enough to go on to the next 2 back to back. No I wouldn’t have used credits for them but probably would have bought them for a discount with the kindle book like I did the first one if they weren’t in the escape category. I’m a audible junkie:)

I enjoyed all 18 books in the series

I zipped through all 18 books, back-to-back and didn't lose interest. The books rotate through the three sisters, in order throughout the series. It makes for a different point of view in each book and that helped to hold my interest. However, I think that because the heroines were strong, intelligent, courageous and likable (as well as the same for the supporting cast) is why I enjoyed them the most. Besides, who can complain about a woman having and managing well, with three husbands?!?!

The series has action, adventure, romance, angst, and humor within easily understandable and non-laborious world building. This one has it all, vampires, fairie queens, elves, demons, dragons, & things I've never heard of. But the author weaves it all together gracefully. There have been many books that I've quickly returned because the world-building was a real grind. I've learned to avoid anything over 13 hours because that seems to be the case if they need that long to get through their story.

Anyway, back to the review. I would have gladly used credits for this series. But even BETTER, most of the books were in the romance package and that made me extra happy:)

Let's describe me by referring to my bra size!

What disappointed you about Witchling?

Just about everything irritated me in this book. The characters have little development; they are described by their clothing. The story moved slowly because everything—everything!!!—had to be explained. Any book that calls out designer labels as part of the text should be burned before anyone hears/reads it. When a character shares the last time s/he had sex, and how hot she thinks every guy is who is introduced into the action, it is time to get out the matches. Sorry. I like a book that wraps me up in a story that I cannot stop reading. I do not care about clothing worn, I care about motivations, and well developed characters, and by "well developed" I do not mean muscles or boobs.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Memoir, to scrub the taste of this book from my ears. Perhaps _As You Wish_by Carey Elwes.

What three words best describe Cassandra Campbell’s voice?

I have no complaints with the narrator. Her voice is very young sounding, and smooth. She does evoke different personalities well with vocal mannerisms, accents and tonality.

What character would you cut from Witchling?

The main character witch and her two sisters, the werecat and the vampire, but then, who would tell the story?
