Publisher's summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In Winter's Heart, the ninth novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor and his friends face personal trials in their quests to build alliances against the Dark One.

After locating Masema Dagar, the Prophet of the Dragon, on Rand’s behalf, Perrin Aybara returns to his encampment to discover his wife Faile has been abducted by the Shaido Aiel. Determined to reclaim her, Perrin forgoes his mission, risking his army in pursuit of a dangerous and unpredictable enemy.

Wounded and trapped in the Seanchan-occupied city of Ebou Dar, Mat Cauthon is awaiting an opportunity to leave. But he is not the only one in hiding. Three Aes Sedai are desperate to escape. As Mat seeks a way to smuggle them all out of the city, he encounters his own prophesized fate when he meets the Daughter of the Nine Moons.

Rand himself is on a mission of vengeance. He has tracked the traitorous Asha’man who tried to kill him to Far Madding. It is a city where no one is capable of channeling the One Power, leaving Rand vulnerable to those who would stop at nothing to destroy the Dragon Reborn…

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

A great continuation to the series

This is by far my favorite Wheel of Time book so far. There are a lot of groundbreaking things happening, the least of which are fulfillment’s to prophecies mentioned and hinted at in previous books and the greatest, a world altering shift that will leave you breathless. The audio book does a great job of painting the battles and action in this story in an engaging way and I love the dual voices of Reading and Kramer, now feeling like old friends telling a great epic.

Second favorite of the series

I really enjoyed the Lord of Chaos book, but after this one it is a difficult choice to make. Rand has to be the best hero ever writing in a fantasy as the weight of the world is literally on his shoulders. Though he makes many mistakes, his struggle to do the right thing is always apparent and he is able to rely on those around him to do just that.

Great book, editing could use some work.

This is yet another great book in the WoT series. The audio book performers are excellent as ever, but the editing was atrocious. It was cut into hundreds of chapters, and many chapters started out by repeating that last 30 seconds of the end of the previous chapter. They probably could have cut out half and hour if it had been edited properly. It was still worth the listen.

gotta be the climax of the series!

As with every book the stakes keep escalating somehow. Jordan has weaved an epic tale for the ages. I haven't finished the series, but this book is the epic conclusion of a few threads that ha e been woven from near the first book and will have huge ramifications for the remainder of the series that I can't wait to finish. The writing and the performance are top notch and Jordan's evolution as a writer is clearly present in this must read!

Lots of character development, a little action

This book continues in the vein of the last few, extra time being spent with different characters, filling out their character development in the narrative. The story has a few more exciting moments, and the climax is decently climactic, but this really was one of the more meandering books of the series. Which feels weird to say, because several things which have been foreshadowed for several books finally came about.

I did enjoy this book, but only in the context of the entire series. It really doesn't stand that well on its own. But if you allow yourself to be more captivated by spending time with the characters and getting to know them and their motivations than with having a quick-moving story, then the story is more enjoyable. You just gotta have the right priorities. Can't wait to crack the next book in the series open.

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer continue to deliver phenomenal performances. They make the narrative really come alive. I can't even imagine anyone else voicing this series.

Love this book

This book like all the others in the series is fantastic. I am currently going through my 11th listening of this phenomenal series.

Few readers match Michael & Kate’s ability to add life to a story with their clear and succinct enunciation and diction. Love love love listening to them. Their character and voice transitions rock!

Getting better

Last two book were a bit droll but it really picks up again here, the narrators sound a bit sick of reading these booos but others wise it was fine
