Publisher's summary

I used to murder people for money, but lately it’s become more of a survival technique. Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town anyway. Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back, she thinks he’s hers for the taking. Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.

It was ok...

After reading a few reviews, I was a little scared. There were fewer redundant phrases than the other books, which I like. "Lover" was overused and just sounded odd at times.

I would like to see this amazingly strong elemental & assassin actual fight offensively with her magic once and a while. She always mentions this "impenetrable shell" which is never actually impenetrable and also her ability to throw stones but never actually does it.
Planning and defense isn't as entertaining as some creative offense.
On the hole, a decent work.

Bad down load

What made the experience of listening to Widow's Web the most enjoyable?

The book itself was wonderful. I got my mother hooked on the series. I had a problem with the down load where it stopped playing on my ipod at 57 mins then it would restart.

Any additional comments?

It played fine on my pc. Just not on my I pod. I contacted tech support within 7 days they fixed the problem and instructed me to down load the book again. I am in the process of doing that now. Hopefully they fixed the problem. I would really like to see a movie or tv series based on the the books and this series. I great escape, if you believe in the elements and the characters.

Good but not what you expected

Would you listen to Widow's Web again? Why?

It was good once but I didn't like Owen in this book. Be interesting to see where she goes
with this twist. Hope the next book comes out soon!

I L-O-V-E this series!

Where does Widow's Web rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top of my list IF NOT my favorite series yet!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Widow's Web?

Anything that has to do with the badass Gin. Gin, like the liquor that is. She is a simple southern girl with some extraordinary gifts.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Fortgang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not, but I love her voice. Espically with that deep southern draw.

Any additional comments?

This book is pretty awesome. I love the narrators deep southern draw and sassy attitude. I can not wait for the next in the series!

"The Sipder" Gin

I totally love this series, I love the narration, the storyline, the characters.. this is re-listen..
the story contuines with Gin as the spider an elemental assassin who's life just can not slow down, the story is well wriiten with lots of good turns to keep you enthralled... but..... start with book 1, or you'll be lost..

Looking forward to the next Book

Any additional comments?

I've enjoyed all the books. But please fewer explanations on past history of prior books. It gets annoying to hear all about the past books. A comment here or there is OK but too many details about the past. Looking forward to the next book, hopefully by then Owen will turn back to the strong man that Gin needs.

Rather predictable, but enjoyable none the less.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If one is a fan of the genre, this is not a bad audiobook to listen to. So yes, I would.

Would you recommend Widow's Web to your friends? Why or why not?

If my friends have not read or listened to any of the previous parts of the series I would not. This book leans heavily on previous books for its narrative to make sense.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Fortgang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, her performance is good. It is engaging and she clearly puts some effort into the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The sequel.

Any additional comments?

This audiobook is not on par with the previous parts of the series but still engaging and enjoyable enough. It is still a reasonable story, but I don't see an improvement or progression from the rest of the series. Rather same-y.

A main character steps out if character

I couldn't figure out how such a consistently awesome series could get so many bad reviews. A key character behaves in an unrealistic way, I am still looking for someone with a polyjuice potion to show up. Aside from that, the stories continues with same quality, and the series makes some great movement forward.
