Publisher's summary

I used to murder people for money, but lately it’s become more of a survival technique. Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town anyway. Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back, she thinks he’s hers for the taking. Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.

Love this series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If urban fantasy is one of your favorite genres you'll love the Elemental Assassin series. Book 7 is no exception - all of them are equally good. They have it all: fantasy, adventure, action, magic, romance, friendship, - storytelling at it's best!

What about Lauren Fortgang’s performance did you like?

Lauren Fortgang does a superb job at narrating - her voice is very clear and understandable (English is not my first language) - yet the characters are very distinct. I very much like her voice, as it is not so high pitched as some other female voices to make my ears hurt. Her voice has character and it is very pleasant to me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The books of this series always take me with them completely - be it suspense, emotion, the tale itself.... very enjoyable but not too much (there are some other books I have to put aside because I can't stand the upheaval any more...)

Any additional comments?

Wonderful entertainment - highly recommended!

New Evil Villian. Same Kick Ass Gin!

Gin Blanco grabbed me from page one (well, disc one? I don't know how to quantify in Audio?) of Spider's Bite and hasn't let go since. Its hard to root for an assassin... I mean usually they are the BAD guys, but Gin is a terrific anti-hero. You want her to be victorious, even if she has to kill 12 people in the process.

This book brings in a NEW crazy super villain. One who wants what it rightfully Gin's. I love the character development in this one. It showed how much Gin has grown and how much she really does love her family- the one she choose. I applaud that she took the actions that she did knowing the risks as they were. I can't say more without risking spoilers. BUT I already have the next one queued and ready to go.

Fun and entertaining

If you could sum up Widow's Web in three words, what would they be?

This is a well written book that's lots of fun. There are no great literary themes here, but that's not usually what I want from an audiobook. I want to be entertained and distracted from my commute and this was perfect. I highly recommend it.

The magic continues

I continue to be an avid fan of Estep's Spider Assassin series. The narrator is fantastic and I enjoy the way she portrays the various characters she does for the characters, as well as the pace / oration.
I do hope we'll get to a finale soon though, as there are only so many ways one can spin this, without getting repetitive - thankfully, Estep isn't there yet with this series.

Spider Book 7

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I suppose I would because obviously they would have listened to the other six before

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would devote a short chapter to an abstract of what happened in the previous book - and then never mention it again.

What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrater does a great job!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

would have never figured I'd like an assassin

Any additional comments?

The first 2 books were awsome. Unfortunately, by book 3 it became too repetitive, but I still enjoyed it.

Definately worth your credit!

Another great Spider adventure. I loved hating the new villain. I was disappointed in Owen's attitude in the end, but I still have hope that he will come around. All in all, I really like this series.

The Spider Strikes Again!

Would you listen to Widow's Web again? Why?

Given some time I'm sure I would. The Widow's Web like all the other books draws you in ans leaves you wanting more. There's always good action and just enough on the romance. This one in particular pulls at the heart strings though.

What other book might you compare Widow's Web to and why?

This question I honestly have no answer for.

What about Lauren Fortgang’s performance did you like?

Lauren's performance has been phenomenal from the start. From her southern drawl to her warm seductive lines she is awesome!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For the most part yes.

Another good one!

The is one of series that good me hooked on the paranormal romance section. I have read all the books in the series and this one is another good one. Lauren Fortgang does all the narration for the series and she is one of the best. I definitely recommend this series.

The book was great but I was a little disappointed by the ending although it does leave the book open for another follow up but >>>> I won't say more to spoil the book.

Best book of the series

By far! Pacing is excellent. Not a lot of reminders of past books like usual. Keeps you wanting more. I hope the next book in the series is the same.

The past comes a callin'

Gin has been a great character to get to know over the last six books along with her family and friends. So when the past starts to threaten not only her relationship with her lover but threatens the life of her friends and families. Even though Gin tried to take the high road and not want to continue with her assassin ways, some people just need killed and if she can prevent her lover's sister from going out and trying to kill or hire someone else to kill she will just have to do it herself even if Owen doesn't want her to. Thus begins the tale of the someone else's past coming back to bite you in the ass. I enjoyed both the storyline and the easy listening of the narration by Lauren. I will continue to listen to this series as it continues because despite having a general theme of Gin trying to change her ways and Gin getting sucked back into the assassin lifestyle these books are not only entertaining but enjoyable breaks from reality and thus just what the everybody needs now and again.
