Publisher's summary

Some wounds take time to heal . . . and some scars never fade. Rachel Morgan, kick-ass witch and bounty hunter, has taken her fair share of hits, and has broken lines she swore she would never cross.

But when her lover was murdered, it left a deeper wound than Rachel ever imagined, and now she won't rest until his death is solved . . . and avenged. Whatever the cost.

Yet the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and when a new predator moves to the apex of the Inderlander food chain, Rachel's past comes back to haunt her. Literally.

Harrison continues to enthrall and excite you.

Would you consider the audio edition of White Witch, Black Curse to be better than the print version?

I'm always asked "Would you consider the audio edition of (insert book title), to be better than the print version?" Since my eyes are poor, and I can multitask when listening, there is the first answer, Yes I prefer an audio edition. Second, the talent of the narrators always brings that extra excitement and spark to a book. Many of the narrators continue to narrate for the same series of books. Marguerite Gavin does an amazing job of bringing the characters within the Hollows series, and I'm so glad she returned to do this book. I would be put off if someone else narrated the next in the series.

What other book might you compare White Witch, Black Curse to and why?

This 7th book in the Hollows series is somewhat more serious than her others, but there is still humor and interesting new characters. You may think paranormal fiction has burnt out and they all have begun to tell the same tale, but you would be wrong. Harrison is able to keep her stories fresh and exciting, and different than other books in paranormal fiction. Yes there is a strong but heroin who is a bit of a misfit, and there are vampires, witches, werewolves, and ghosts. Her Hollows allows a spin on this "paranormal" fiction, that other books haven't come up with or are as good as. I disagree if anyone says this series is burnt out, I find it just the opposite.

Which scene was your favorite?

It can be somewhat irritating to drag out secrets hinted at. This book does present a few answers to some of them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing, I'm so glad she returned to perform this book.

Fun Series ... but 2 credits for others!?

All the books in the series have been entertaining, and the narrarator is good. I would have continued to get the next in the series, but 2 credits is not the right price with all the other options available to use the credits. I went to the library and enjoyed reading the next book the old way.

The series continues to amaze!

The last book was a great story that struggled with a new narrator. This book went back to Gavin and was amazing.

The story was great, and in classic Rachel Morgan fashion, was a rollercoaster of ups and downs. During the middle of this book, I really felt bad for the MC and was just amazed that she was able to press thru the problems in her life. I loved the continues relationship growth (or death?) between her and Al, and am always wondering where it will end up. Jinx is back to being amazing with Gavin narrating him, but there is so much foreshadowing about him and his wife getting old that it scares me. Not sure what the future holds with this, but I'm pretty sure I may cry.

The biggest negative in this is Harrison using intentionally bad communication to produce the drama. This happens multiple times during the book where "we will talk about it later" caused all the problems and just saying something right away would have just fixed everything. One of the conversations was even brought up again in the last chapter and still didn't happen, and it is becoming a pretty big annoyance to me. It reminds me of one of the later seasons of "LOST" and I realized during the first episode when he met a new group and didn't trust them and lied, that if he told the truth, everything would have worked out perfectly. Personal bias, but this kind of drama building bugs me and just seems lazy. Other than this, the book was great.

Highly recommended

Another hit

This is another hit in the Racheal Morgan series. Once again Rachel has to balance drama in her personal life with trying to save the world. This is a fast paced complicated book with several storylines and characters. The characters are growing and developing and I can't wait to see what happens next. We finally find out what happened to Kisten, and Rachel meets someone who might be a keeper. I really liked the interaction with Rachel and her brother. The argument that they have at the end of the book is very realistic and for once, Rachel did not apologize for letting him have it. I only wished she said more to him. This is a great series and I look forward to reading the next book.

Thanks the gods Marguerite Gavin is back

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes

What about Marguerite Gavin???s performance did you like?

Love this series, and almost up after the rotten narrator on the last book. When I saw Kim Harrison had come to her senses and went with Marguerite Gavin again, I was willing to continue on. Really happy I did. Story continues to be fabulous and intriguing.
