Publisher's summary

Our favorite white trash zombie, Angel Crawford, has enough problems of her own, what with dealing with her alcoholic, deadbeat dad, issues with her not-quite boyfriend, the zombie mafia, industrial espionage, and evil corporations. Oh, and it’s raining, and won’t let up.

But things get even crazier when a zombie movie starts filming in town, and Angel begins to suspect that it’s not just the plot of the movie that's rotten. Soon she's fighting her way through mud, blood, bullets, and intrigue, even as zombies, both real and fake, prowl the streets.

Angel’s been through more than her share of crap, but this time she's in way over her head. She’ll need plenty of brainpower to fit all the pieces - and body parts - together in order to save herself, her town, and quite possibly the human race.

Not literature but lovable

I will love this series. It is inventive, fun, has good character development, and actually shows some intelligence. I really dislike zombies in general but I’m making a big exception for this series because it pleases me. I especially like the narration.

Please! Reschedule if u have a cold!

I love all the books, the idea, the characters and Allison is the best..BUT, lord it was painful and irritating to listen to someone BADLY congested for hours! Really should redo or offer half off for torture thru half the book. Had to listen in increments. Otherwise another hit!

I Devoured This Book

Having completely enjoyed the first two White Trash Zombie books I was delighted when I saw that a third book in the series was on its way.

I was a bit skeptical that Diana Rowland could continue the White Trash Zombie series with a third volume that would hold up the the level of entertainment of the first two. I needn't have worried.

Although the plot lines of Apocalypse are more complex than the first two books the entertainment value is absolutely first rate. If you're a fan of Angel and her motley band of friends / enemies / and co-workers you're going to enjoy Apocalypse. Excellent character development continues in Apocalypse, with wonderful insight into the human (and Zombie) condition as well as laugh out loud humor.

Rowland also does a very good job of back-tracking the events of books 1 and 2 for listeners who may not be familiar with Angel Crawford and the other primary cast of characters.

That said, if you're reading this review and have are considering buying this audiobook and have not listened to the earlier books in this series I really recommend you start with book 1 (My Life as a White Trash Zombie) as it sets up everything that follows.

Can't wait to see what Angel and the rest are going to be up to next.

Love These Zombies!

It never failed to amuse me how completely I accepted the brain-eating nature of these zombies! A real tribute to Diana Rowland's writing to make it so believable with the whole parasite thing and the true nature of zombies.
One thing is so funny--- while I was listening to I think the entire middle section, I heard Allison McLemore's voice sounding all stuffed up and I thought either it was a problem with the audio or it was just me. I'm so glad others heard it too! It took me a little out of the story for a while, but then her voice cleared up towards the end.
Also, I just saw an article about a new upcoming series about a girl zombie who looks normal and who eats brains. I wonder if it might be based on these books.
Anyway, on to the next book.

Great series!

I have listened to all 3 of the White Trash Zombie books and totally enjoyed them all. Great characters, interesting storylines, and awesome narration by Allison McLemore. I was happy to read on Ms. Rowland's blog that there will be 3 more books in this series. I'm only sorry I'll have to wait for her to write and publish them. :)

Sad this was the last book.

I was sad to see this great story come to an end, it was many hours of good entertainment, and i hope to see the narrator in a lot more books, she did great.

So much fun!

To quote, "f**ing awesome!" This was such a fun and suspenseful conclusion (is it the last? I hope not...must check and see!) to the zombie series. Angel has grown so much in each book as a person and a zombie. She's learned to navigate her new world and found a place for herself there.
All that said, I just really love Angel! She's funny, snarky, straightforward and just plain fun to read.

Love this series :)

Read/Listened for Fun (Audible/Paperback)
Overall Rating: 4.25
Story Rating: 4.00
Character Rating: 4.50

Audio Rating: 4.50 (Not part of my overall rating)

First Thought When Finished: Not my favorite in the series but still SO DARN GOOD!

Story Thoughts: Movies with zombies have got to be silly to actual zombies and I think make the perfect setting for some fun! Diana Rowland has one of the most wicked senses of humor on the planet and it shines in her writing (she was super fun in person too)! I love this series and I count down to it coming out EVERY.SINGLE.TIME! White Trash Zombie Apocalypse was just downright fun and full of action. Also, I love that Angel is continuing with bettering herself. We need more women like her in fiction!

Character Thoughts: Angel freaking rocks! She is one of those characters that almost everyone can identify with on some level. She has made mistakes, she has done things that require her to work harder and be better, and she is a mess at times. At some point in life we all have hit the place that make us want to do better and that is where I think we can all identify with her. I am not a big fan of her romance with Marcus but I just keep hoping she finds someone else (or he wins me over). I am however loving everyone at the Morgue and Angel's zombie son!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Allison McLemore / Length: 9 hrs and 30 mins

I LOVE Allison's narration of this series. It is one of the best in the market and she NAILS Angel! The pacing, emotion, and nuances are perfect. Needless to say I highly recommend this one on audio. Please always listen to a sample of an audiobook before buying. Not everyone has the same taste in narrators.

Final Thoughts: I need the next one now!

Narrator needs to blow her nose!

What didn’t you like about Allison McLemore’s performance?

I can't do anything but listen to someone who desperately needs to blow her nose. I can't believe I paid for this.

Any additional comments?

I like all the books, but I am SO distracted, I can't get through it. EWWW. I can't believe this got through editing.

Fell in love by accident!

Would you listen to White Trash Zombie Apocalypse again? Why?

Absolutely and I actually already have!

What was one of the most memorable moments of White Trash Zombie Apocalypse?

It is funny and serious and well written and all of those things that you need in a book to get your mental image forming. I was so caught up in the story that I listened to this entire book in a day.

Have you listened to any of Allison McLemore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I had not. I actually purchased this one by accident and decided to give it a listen anyway. As soon as I finished, I bought the first 2 books in the series and listened to them as well, then followed it up with a second go around of this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was and I did!

Any additional comments?

Allison McLemore has an absolutely wonderful reading voice. I could listen to her talk all day long! She is clear and concise but she also puts in drawl and twang when needed for the sentence to sound right. She is comfortable with slang, medical terms, every day conversation and strong emotions. If I could have her read every book I listen to, I would!
