Its what you expect, and thats not a bad thing.

I was hovering between 3-4 stars on this one, then realized i was looking forward to getting the next book enough for it to be a 4 star.
The narration started off a bit iffy, but quickly improved. The "vampire" angle has been approached with an original take, and I enjoyed that. Its becoming hard to find good "Gothic" Sci-fi/fantasy lately without wading through masses of poorly written erotic chic-lit with the cover a cross between Fabio and Boris karloff.

This is as advertised. A Military/vampire hunter theme, centered around a single likable character, written almost in a Horatio Hornblower fashion. All good things in my opinion.

Post Apocalyptic, vampires, traitors, corrupt politicians, guns and battles there is something for everyone if you don't mind your fantasy novels pushing the bounds of credulity (Oddly enough, some people want more realism in their fantasy novels.)
I enjoyed it, and i especially enjoy the fact that its 7 books, aka no waiting on the next one.

Fantastic Series! Lots of fun to read

This is a new series for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a bit difficult to understand the various groups at first but as the book goes on it is all explained and now I am hooked and want to see what happens to David and Molly.

If you like vampires, aliens, and a great hero you won't be disappointed.

A Mixed Genre

After reading some of the negative reviews I was hesitant to purchase this book; however, this hesitancy proved to be entirely unfounded.

As the author says in his introduction, he personally enjoys military fiction, vampire, and werewolf fiction, so that is what he wrote. This is military fiction set in a future where "vampires" and "werewolves" are at war. Within the boundaries and tropes of military fiction there is good character development, plot advancement, etc. I suspect that those that have been exceptionally critical of this book have more of a problem with the genre than E.E. Knight's work itself.

That being said, if you are looking for Gothic horror, this book will most definitely not meet that desire. If you are looking for a post-apocalyptic war story with a monster flavor this is perfect.

Entertaining

Straight forward characters, very decent world building with a refreshing post-apocalyptic western/supernatural scene.
The narrator is a bit sub par, but all in all I have a found the series to be quite entertaining.

A very weak 4, but a 4 nonetheless.

A new look at the post-apocolypitc earth

I love it! A solid if not fully explicated, scifi background for a near future world, with believable human characters, tons of action, and realistic adventure in identifiable geographic surroundings. A lot of backstory and lengthy flashbacks dropped this from 5 to 4 stars, although that same skillful explanation sets a great foundation for a series. Looking forward to book 2!

Ended well, but was very hard to get into.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story wasn't written well enough to keep my interest. The story also did not build up very well. If i could change anything it would be to make the main character cooler. More impressive.

Would you recommend Way of the Wolf to your friends? Why or why not?

No, story was way too slow.

What does Christian Rummel and E. E. Knight (Introduction) bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christian Rummel saved this book. If it wasn't for the great narrator i would have stopped listening 30 minutes in.

Could you see Way of the Wolf being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, if the story was changed.

Any additional comments?

The next books seem to be rated better so 'ive been debating getting the next book.

Must Have More!

I absolutely love this series! I flew threw every book in this series and hated running dry. Book 9 "March in Country" comes out Dec 7th 2010 and I have marked my calender!

What if the New World Order were really an ancient Vampiric race of inter-dimensional beings that once again tried to shackle mankind in bondage forever? Well, they should have picked a more timid species to try to dominate and feed off of.

The Author is brilliant and must be a serious history and geography aficionado. I am hopelessly addicted and long for the next book in the series.

Thanks Mr. Knight for the excellent story!
