Publisher's summary

John Carter, Prince of Helium, has been imprisoned for a Martian year, his wife in another cell - alive or dead, he doesn't know.

In this continuation of the saga of the amazing world of Barsoom, the love story of Carter and Dejah Thoris - the red-skinned, oviparous princess - unfolds. Like all the tales in the series, fantasy and adventure combine in a style as malleable as dreams, exotic and dangerous and unending.

Great story, terrible production

The forced, mock southern accent of the narrator was too much for me to bear, I actually bought another production just so that I might hear this great tale.

love the barsoom trilogy.

I love the barsoom trilogy. But the narrator slowly gets harder to bear throughout the three books. The voices done, are grating and hard to listen to at times. In the third book, it seems some lines were forgotten and had to be dubbed into the recording thereafter, only with different recording equipment or something, for it's extremely obvious when the voice changes in quality. often better quality might I add.

Bring it.

Disappointing!

This is the 3rd book in the series, and my second audiobook (of the series). It's not getting any better. I typically enjoy William Dufris' work, but this was terrible. I will be returning this book.

Great finish!

Wonderful love story that delighted my 12 year old daughter.
Exciting fights to keep my 15 years old son listening.
Fascinating characters, aliens, animals and people alike.
A book for all ages. The whole series is a good voyage.

Interesting

I love this story. I know now why we haven’t seen a continuation of this story on the big screen. Maybe once we move into a time of more understanding and unity will we see this story played out on the big screen.

Can't call it predictable if it came first

This was on the free catalog, but the narrator was poor. I listened to the other John Carter books on Libervox and don't remember disliking the narrator as much. Liked the old time feel of this pulp fiction. It is not apologetic about violence and liking to fight. Something that is missing in our modern fantasy with all the reluctant hero flem flam.

Classic

Good conclusion of the first two books, and yes I know there are more books to be read.
