Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, Vivienna and Siri, who happen to be princesses. Theirs is a world where those who die in glory return as immortal gods; a world transformed by BioChromatic magic, a power based on an essence known as breath. By using breath and drawing upon the colour in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be performed.

Hard to say. Not a top ten, but certainly worth a listen. Sometimes I wait for another book to be released, and stumbles upon some other book that turns out to be better than I expected. This was one of those for me.
Both the sisters. Simply because they are the ones who changes most during the story. Also liked a certain diety who did not take himself to seriously.
I am uncertain if i have heard him before. James performes well enough. He gives each character a different voice. Most are good, some are passable, and one I found downright annoying. I guess I just dissagreed with James about how that character should sound. Anyway, gave him 4 out of 5.
Some things can make you laugh, and there are elements in the story that may make some peoples lip to shiver, but I don`t think it`s that kind of book for most people.
Waiting for that great book to come out? Need something else to pass your time before that? Then I recomend this book. If Brandon S. writes a sequel, i will most likely read it.
I would recommend this to all those interested in Fantasy fiction. Very good story, takes you away in to a different world system and makes you think about it.
to the Mistborn Series - similar magic system and similar fortuitous events bringing the right people to the right place in the end.
the sword was a nice one ! Liked it . Overall narration was very nice too. He was able to create the different characters very effectively.
The reason I listen to audio books is to make the most of dead time such as travel, running, gymn etc. By design I dont look at audio books at one stretch. If I had the opportunity may be I would like to listen to it at one go.
Well... I do really like Brandon Sanderson's writing. Finished this one yesterday and will be starting the Way of Kings today.
Warbreaker is probably not in the same league as the mistborn series for intrigue and complex magic but the system created here of using 'breath' is quite good too.
The characters develop and change from where they begin which is something most Fantasy readers would expect. Typically we would be looking for a little more depth for the changes undergone by the characters. To that extent the book does leave you a little wanting.
It has a similar coming together in the end that you have seen in the Mistborn series and in the WoT. The right people end up in the right place at the right time.
While it is happenstance it is not unbelievable at all. It fits in perfectly and that is what makes it a good read for each of the books I have read so far.
Docked one star because I thought the characters could be a little more developed but other than that I loved the story.
"slow to boring narrator"
I love Brandon Sanderson's books, and have listened to them all but on this occasion the narrator is so slow I am having to put it on double speed and then you loose the flavour of the book. I would love to finish it but just cannot face the narrator again
I enjoyed this story and I loved loved loved the characters. Their names are cool and this story has a great political background. I can't say I was ever really surprised. Everything in the story was completely original, but you know where you are in a story like this. Amazing really since, its such a different world. Some stories I've heard are in worlds almost identical to our own and are completely impossible to understand. So this one is a keeper.
A comfortable, interesting ride that will keep you close to the interests of the characters within. Even the ones you don't want to support at the end! So whose who? I won't tell you, you must listen to this audio book to find out more!... Have fun.
"Bizarre narration spoils the story"
Great story, as always with Brandon Sanderson - very odd choice of narration though. One of the main Gods in the story has INEXPLICABLY been given a voice not dissimilar to Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted. It makes it very hard to remember this is a God, and not a irritating teenage stoner character!
"Enjoyed the original magic system"
I enjoyed this book. I suspect like many people I came to this and Brandon Sandersons other work after he successfully took over the wheel of time series. The novel magic system was well thought out and expanded up throughout the book.
I thought the narrator was generally okay and gave a wide variety of voices to the various characters, though i would agree with others, that the 'Bill and Ted esque' voice for one of the gods is a bit off putting and takes some getting use to.
Overall I liked the book and will be exploring other books from the same author.
