What's going on?
Turn on the television.
An unknown vessel, not of this world, materializes in London. A colossal figure towering over the city, it makes no move. Is this a peaceful first contact or the prelude to an invasion? Every child has nightmares. But the only thing scarier than little Eva Reyes' dreams - apocalyptic visions of death and destruction - is the habit they have of coming true....
Scientist Dr Rose Franklin has no memory of the last few years. The strangers she works with say she died and was brought back to life. The question is not just how...but why?
Kara Resnik and Vincent Couture fell in love during war, and have found peace since. They are the thin line of defence against what is coming. But they do not know they have been living a lie. And a man who claims to have the answers has his own agenda. There are things he cannot say - and others he won't.
All pieces of an epic puzzle. One we have been trying to solve since the dawn of time....

"A must read/listen!"
It's not often an author manages to keep the tension, the humour and the plot going in second books but this one is equal, if not better than the first! Oh, and what a different twist we are given to the norm, really didn't see that one coming! Excellent narration, giant fighting robots, humour, way out there but believable Sci-fi, you're missing a gem if you don't give this a go.
The story followed on really well from the previous book. I can't wait for the next one!
I loved it all. Looking forward to Visiting the God's. A brilliant book that had me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Ten out of ten for the story, narration, voices, plot and suspense. Definitely in my top 5 of my collection of 1214 audio books. Bravo.
I left a decent review for the first book, though looking back I think I was a little harsh. This is a great series and this second book doesn't disappoint. Great story. Listened to all 9hours in a day! Bring on no. 3!
"First class in every way!"
Exciting, innovative script, fantastic narration, dymanic tension - every aspect of this book was just as good as the previous book, which I thought impossible. I heartily recommend both these books. And I hope there's a sequel - I need more! Great read if you love sci-fi and mystery. I usually only read thrillers and I'm so glad I took a chance on this. 5 big stars
"A very enjoyable listen"
This was a really enjoyable second instalment of the Themis files. Overall I liked the plot. It does get a little hammy at times, but this is forgivable, given that it's a story about giant alien robots. The ensemble cast brings the story to life well. There are a few instances where I think the performances are a little off (the geneticist with the stutter is annoying and made me think my iPhone had broken, and the person playing the 10 year old was clear a fully grown adult). However, these are minor gripes and don't massively detract from the overall story. I really like how each chapter is a file/recording/interview. Waking Gods is an interesting, enjoyable piece of sci fi escapism and is well worth a listen.
"A perfect sequel but I now I have to wait"
I loved the first and second, this combined with the Expanse make for my favourite sci fi 'shows' in years but now I just dont want to wait for the third.
Also all the actors are perfect apart from
***POSSIBLE SMALL SPOILER***
the youngest characters actor seeming way too mature for the supposed age. (the performance is well done and no criticism to the actor, just sounds and feels too mature)
"Can't wait for next one!"
Brilliant series, characters well written and storyline is unusual. Really refreshing to listen to such a good and original storyline.
"Not as good as the first book"
Overall I did enjoy this book - even though this is perhaps because I enjoyed the first so much.
This book did start off a little like Smithard's "The Stone Man" but not as interesting. I think the originality of the first book was lost and not replaced with much, and all they could think off was bringing in more robots.
"I LOVE these books"
Absolutely wonderful. Wholehearted recommendation. If you loved Sleeping Giants, you'll adore Waking Gods. Brilliant story-line, really amazing characters, and the pace, just wow. I hope there's another, it feels like there should be a third book.
