Publisher's summary

Cassie Forrest isn't surprised to learn that the day she’s decided to get her life together is also the day the world ends. After all, she’s been on a self-imposed losing streak since her survivalist parents died: she’s stopped painting, broken off her engagement to Adrian and dated a real jerk. Rectifying her mistakes has to wait, however, because Cassie and her friends have just enough time to escape Brooklyn for her parents’ cabin before Bornavirus LX turns them into zombies, too. This is difficult enough, but Cassie’s tag along ex-boyfriend and her friend’s bratty sister have a knack for making everything, even the apocalypse, more unpleasant. When the two attract a threat as deadly as the undead to their safe haven, Cassie’s forced to see how far she’ll go to protect those she loves. And it’s a lot farther than she’d anticipated. This, coupled with Adrian’s distant voice on Safe Zone Radio and, of course, the living dead, threaten to put Cassie right back into the funk she just dragged herself out of. Survival’s great and all, especially when you have leather armor, good friends and home-brewed beer, but there’s something Cassie must do besides survive: tell Adrian she still loves him. And to do that, Cassie has to find faith that she’s stronger than she thinks, she’s still a crack shot and true love never dies.

Main Character Is Annoying

The story is decent once you get past the main character. She is fixated on her ex treats her boyfriend at the start of the book like garbage, justifying he actions by calling him cold. As the reader I though she was just projecting. He did nothing wrong until after she started treating him poorly. I spent much of the book rooting against her. Thankfully things do get sorted out somewhat later in the book.

By far my favorite Audio book series!

Absolutely amazing. I loved the performance of the narrators. The story was so well thought out and written beautifully. I have purchased every single audiobook from Sarah Flemming, I finished all 7 of her books that are on this platform. I hope that she continues to have books put onto Audible because without a doubt I will continue to buy them. She was so creative, in her storytelling and she developed the characters so well and added so much depth to them. This series has left me in a "show-hole" kind of because I don't know what I am going to listen to next to fill the void that this series left me.

There aren’t enough words...

To describe how much I love this book. Characters, setting, fantasty, love...it’s magic. I hate fantasy, Sci-Fi, and violence and somehow I love this series! Amazing!

Cassie and her friends try to survive

Cassie and her friends try to survive the zombie apocalypse first by escaping MYC before they blow up the bridges and travel to her parents home in upstate NY. Along the way we discover how they became friends and their personalities brought them together.
This book is descriptive but not in a nightmare-ish way as some other zombie stories. The characters are lovable and human it’s hard not to route for their survival. I love the narrator as she brings the characters to life.
